Senior Financial Reporting Analyst

Position Summary:

The Financial Reporting Analyst’s primary responsibility is to prepare Red Robin Gourmet Burgers’ SEC-related filings, including the Company’s annual report on Form 10-K, quarterly reports on Form 10-Q and quarterly Earnings Releases.  In this role, the Financial Reporting Analyst will work under the direction of the Manager of Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting. Secondary responsibilities include financial systems and reporting project work, process improvement projects, ownership over certain key process areas, technical accounting research, and assisting the General Ledger team with the periodic close process.

Essential Functions:

  • Prepare external financial statements as well as prepare supplemental schedules and analysis to support each SEC-related filing and its related footnotes and management’s discussion and analysis.

  • Perform technical accounting research and document conclusions on complex accounting issues in accordance with US GAAP and SEC Regulations.

  • Lead ad-hoc financial system project work.

  • Drive process improvements in financial reporting, accounting, and finance teams.

  • Assist with compliance and maintenance of internal controls over financial reporting.

  • Coordinate, assist, and respond to the external auditors in their reviews of the quarterly financial statements and year-end audits.

  • Collaborate with other departments to gather information for the preparation of the SEC-related filings and earnings releases.

  • Research and document new accounting principles and reporting requirements to ensure that the Company’s SEC-related filings and releases are GAAP, SEC and PCAOB compliant as well as keeping management informed of new pronouncements.

  • Own certain key accounting processes, including stock award accounting and administration, equity accounting, and other technical areas.

  • Assist in developing, documenting and educating others on Red Robin’s accounting policies for critical areas, such as equity compensation, lease accounting, debt accounting, gift cards, loyalty, impairment, and self-insurance.

  • Assist the General Ledger team with the periodic close process including preparation of journal entries, financial statement analysis, and account reconciliations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance.

  • CPA or CPA candidate required.

  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, SEC regulations, and Sarbanes-Oxley required.

  • Minimum of 2-4 years of experience with public companies, either corporate or public accounting.

  • Prior Big 4/public accounting experience preferred.

  • Experience in financial systems project work and process improvement implementation a plus.

  • Experience with financial reporting software and major ERP systems and tools a plus, including Workiva, Oracle Fusion, Essbase, Blackline, and Anaplan.

  • Experience with Artificial Intelligence (“AI”) including ChatGPT a plus.

  • Advanced competency in Excel and Microsoft Office suite products.

  • Organized and extremely detail oriented.

  • Experience in restaurant and/or retail industries a plus.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of financial statement preparation and month end close processes.

  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and conflicting priorities in a rapidly changing environment.

  • Ability to interpret and apply technical accounting and financial reporting requirements. 

  • Ability to work with accounting systems to understand business processes, recognize issues, and suggest solutions that incorporate automation and efficiency.

  • Strong analytical/problem solving skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently, with initiative and autonomous judgement.

  • Strong documentation, research, and resolution skills.

  • Ability to effectively interface with external audit and properly manage internal and external deadlines.

Working Conditions:

  • Equipment – Standard office equipment, including computer, monitors, docking station, printer, photocopier, telephone, etc.

  • Work Environment – hybrid work environment with 2-3 days in office and 2-3 days remote work from home.

  • Physical Effort – Position lends itself to overtime during critical times of the month, quarter and year.     

Compensation Range: $81,000.00 - $111,450.00
