Job Details:

We are seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to lead forecasting, costing, and profit-margin analysis across our geotechnical services and products business. In this role, you will provide critical insight into financial performance, support project managers in tracking profitability, and serve as a key partner to our production and operations teams.

Based in Acton, Massachusetts, this position offers the opportunity to influence financial planning and decision-making within a growing, mid-sized subsidiary of a publicly listed group.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting cycle, ensuring alignment with group standards and timelines.

  • Manage and oversee controlling activities within SAP CO, including product costing, profit center accounting, and profitability analysis.

  • Monitor financial performance across projects and operations—hours, margins, variances—and deliver actionable insights to operational leaders.

  • Partner with project managers and business leaders to support financial analysis, cost tracking, and profitability improvement initiatives.

  • Oversee inventory accounting and reporting, including standard cost updates, valuation, and reconciliations.

  • Support monthly and year-end closing activities in SAP, ensuring compliance with internal controls and reporting requirements.

  • Develop dashboards and KPIs to track consulting activity, project performance, and resource utilization.

  • Prepare monthly variance analyses, financial commentaries, and forward-looking insights for senior leadership.

  • Contribute to the ongoing SAP implementation, with a focus on controlling, planning, reporting, and project profitability modules.

  • Drive continuous improvement by enhancing financial processes, project tracking tools, and reporting frameworks.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.

  • 5–7 years of experience in cost accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis—ideally within consulting, engineering, or other project-based services environments.

  • Solid understanding of project accounting, resource utilization, and project margin tracking.

  • Proficiency with SAP CO/PS or similar ERP systems (highly preferred).

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate financial data into business insights.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to partner effectively with non-financial stakeholders.

  • Hands-on, adaptable, and comfortable working in a mid-sized, fast-moving organization.

  • Experience driving process improvements and supporting ERP or financial system implementations.
