Job Description
Reporting to the Manager, Finance Partner, the Senior Financial Analyst will be part of the Corporate Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) team. The role will work closely with the Corporate Function business partners to provide consistent management reporting, corporate budgeting, quarterly forecasting, and business case analysis support.
The successful candidate will bring critical thinking, intellectual curiosity, a strong attention to detail and a desire to “dig in” to learn the business while being mindful of the strong culture and commitment of the Company to provide the best care possible for our patients and residents across Canada.
This position will be based at our Head Office in Markham, Ontario. Extendicare offers a hybrid working environment.
Key responsibilities include:
Business partner with corporate functions to complete FP&A tasks including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
Assist business partners and manage the quarterly forecasting process for cost centers (all elements of income statements).
Lead the budgeting process in conjunction with the Director and Manager for corporate business partners.
Prepare review packages analyzing actuals vs. budget and forecast vs. budget variances and partner with respective corporate functions to ensure results are communicated.
Work with the Finance and Business Unit teams to assist in the consolidation of financial reports and critical KPI’s across the business units – ensuring KPI tracking and analysis of the P&L are in line with budgets and updated forecasts.
Support process improvement initiatives related to monthly reporting and planning
Supports internal and external auditors where required.
Ad-hoc analysis as required.
What we’re looking for:
3+ years of relevant post-graduate experience, accounting, or other similar corporate finance role.
University Degree in Finance, Data Analytics, Mathematics, Accounting, or business-related discipline.
CPA (or working towards the designation).
Strong knowledge of Excel and the ability to work with and manage large amounts of data.
Experience with enterprise accounting reporting systems (Workday) and month end close.
Strong problem solving, analytical and strategic thinking skills; can see the "big picture" in a complex business environment.
Ability to clearly communicate written and verbal recommendations
Ability to manage multiple changing priorities in a fast-paced environment with a strong work ethic.
