CFR (Corporate Financial Reporting) is hosted in Worldwide Controllership Organization and is custodian of HP Inc. US GAAP Policy & Compliance. The role involves collaborating with business finance teams and account management teams to guide on sales transactions & programs proactively so as to enable revenue recognition as soon as possible while remaining fully compliant with US SEC (Securities and Exchange Commission) and US GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) requirements. The individual is expected to be the subject matter expert providing clear and final revenue recognition guidance for teams to follow. The role includes providing leadership to regions & GBUs on key issues, project managing whitepapers, advising on emerging issues and ad hoc policy issues, working in conjunction with the business compliance team ensure HP policy and US GAAP has been properly implemented. 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Provides the most complex financial analysis for a financial function or a business, typically exercising a unique understanding of the business to determine the best method for achieving objectives. 

  • Consults with business leaders to guide and influence long- term and strategic decision-making within the broadest scope. 

  • Forecasts financial results within the broadest scope. 

  • Leads and advises on the most complex business initiatives, typically leading several analysts across multiple areas within finance and across geographies/organizations. 

  • Drives process improvement and policy development initiatives that impact the function globally. 

  • Represents the business unit during cross-regional or cross- functional planning processes. 

  • Identifies opportunities for process improvement and policy development and engages in the design 

  • Provides mentoring and guidance to analysts. 

 

Specifically responsible for the following areas: 

  • Technical accounting consultation and revenue guidance on complex customer contracts and business deals 

  • Monitoring new accounting pronouncements and assisting in determining the related accounting, policy and reporting impacts 

  • Maintaining upto date and comprehensive Revenue Recognition accounting policy in compliance with ASC 606 

  • Analyzing material nonstandard contracts and providing accounting dispositions 

  • Supporting external auditors in their annual and quarterly revenue recognition audits 

  • Maintaining compliance with internal control procedures surrounding revenue recognition accounting and policy, including preparation of documentation to support accounting and reporting positions 

  • Accounting review of emerging business model 

  • Provide ongoing support and training to finance teams to enable them to be self-sufficient with their policy and process understanding 

  • Influence and communicate to the wider community HP policy updates on a quarterly basis 

  • Supporting ad hoc initiatives, such as supporting acquired company policy integrations. These activities will involve leading and facilitating meetings (in a virtual environment) across multiple organizations, pro-actively identifying and solving problems, and giving mature and clear guidance to enable contract negotiation activity and month end close activities. This will include providing revenue recognition expertise in the above areas, facilitating audit activity, consulting on processes, and ensuring compliance with HP financial policies and procedures. 

  • Consults with business leaders to guide and influence strategic decision-making within a broad scope 

  • Identifies opportunities for process improvement and policy development and engages in the design 

  • Ability to influence multiple organizations within a broad scope, typically interacting with directors and Vice President (VP)s 

 

Education and Experience Required: 

  • First level university degree with a focus in business or economics; advanced degree or accounting certification (Certified Public Accountant (CPA)) preferred. 

  • Typically 10+ years of experience as a financial analyst. 

  • Typically experienced in a variety of finance functions.
