About the role


The Senior Finance Analyst will provide leadership of the Financial Planning and Analysis function for the Renewables business, ensuring the effective operation of all budget, forecast and financial planning processes, as well as
sound financial analysis to support good decision making.
The role analyses operational and financial performance against KPIs, key matters affecting performance, EBIT and all its components, capex
evaluation, resource allocation support, and financial risk and opportunities management. The role will ensure good governance processes are in place for all capital expenditure. This includes capital financial evaluations, implementation of robust capital management processes and proactive and continuous monitoring of capital expenditure against approvals.

What You’ll Be Doing
 

  • Planning, Analysis and Management Reporting for Renewables. This includes coordination and preparation of annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, three-year plans, as well as providing financial modelling and analytical support for AGL’s evaluation and
    execution of investments and divestments.

  • Lead the preparation of monthly management reporting, including Operational Expenditure, Capital Expenditure and Cashflow analysis compared to budget/forecasts and prior periods and identifying and reporting the risks and opportunities associated with such forecasts. Promote continuous improvement of the quality and efficiency of the forecasting and management reporting process and outputs.

  • Oversee the month-end close process:
    - Review journals processed by the team
    - Understand status of capex projects and ensure proper recording of actual spend through
    - Ensure accruals are accurately captured and supportable

    - Work with key stakeholders to ensure understanding of budget/forecast variances

  • Utilise the Blackline reconciliation tool to ensure reconciliations are performed to a high level of quality with appropriate support.

  • Proactively support the Managers of Hydro, Wind, Storage & Engineering to promote a cost-conscious culture. Drive identified cost reductions across all sites where applicable. Provide good quality reporting which allows Managers to understand, challenge and reduce cost.

  • Provide value adding support to identify and mitigate business risks.
     

What You’ll Bring
 

  • 5+ years experience in analytical roles with major capital management program

  • Tertiary qualification in business or finance and CA/CPA qualified

  • Demonstrated experience in providing financial analysis support to business management

  • Demonstrated commercial acumen to understand the dynamics of a complex industry

  • Ability to understand, utilise and improve sophisticated accounting and reporting systems

  • SAP business planning and consolidation experience desirable

  • Previous IT and/or cloud experience (desirable)

  • Excellent organisational ability and strong attention to detail
