Design & Development of PMSM / Induction Motors – Develop and optimize motor designs based on application requirements, focusing on performance, efficiency, and reliability.
Simulation using ANSYS RM Expert / Maxwell (2D) – Perform electromagnetic analysis to validate designs, optimize torque, reduce losses, and improve overall motor performance.
Lamination & Magnetic Material Design – Work on lamination stack design and selection of magnetic materials to achieve desired efficiency and manufacturability.
Prototype Building & Testing – Support motor prototype assembly, testing, and validation to ensure design meets performance targets.
Cross-functional Coordination – Collaborate with mechanical, production, sourcing, and quality teams for smooth motor development and industrialization.
SAP – Item Code & BoM Creation – Create and manage item codes and Bill of Materials (BoM) in SAP for motor assemblies.
Design Validation & Troubleshooting – Analyse test results, identify issues, and implement corrective design improvements during development stages.
Technical Documentation – Prepare and maintain design documents, reports, and specifications to support product development and release.
Qualification and experience
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering
4 to 5 years of experience in electric motor design, including PMSM motors
Knowledge / skills required
Strong understanding of Induction and PMSM motor design and electromagnetic fundamentals
Proficiency in ANSYS RM Expert / Maxwell (2D) simulation tools
Knowledge of stator winding design, including winding schemes, slot-pole combinations, and winding factor optimization
Understanding of winding techniques (distributed, concentrated windings) and their impact on performance
Familiarity with winding insulation systems, thermal limits, and manufacturing constraints
Knowledge of lamination design, magnetic materials, and motor manufacturing processes
Experience in motor prototyping, testing, and performance evaluation
Familiarity with SAP for item code creation and BoM management
Good analytical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills
