This role has been designed as ‘Hybrid’ with an expectation that you will work on average 2 days per week from an HPE office.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, enhance and support Pricing tools built in MS Excel with VBA and SQL Server.
  • Troubleshoot and debug complex VBA code to ensure optimal tool performance and reliability.
  • Design and implement new VBA modules and components to meet business needs.
  • Write and optimize SQL queries and stored procedures to interact with SQL Server databases.
  • Provide technical leadership and guide the application design.
  • Employ technology and software development best practices.
  • Perform regular testing, validation, and performance tuning of the pricing tool.
  • Work with the product owner to understand, estimate and refine the product backlog.
  • Provide assistance with user support issues and queries.
  • Be active in the continuous development of the tool in order to improve performance and stability.
  • Engagement with business stakeholders and program management to guide them into translating a business problem into a technical solution.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Excellent understanding and experience in all aspects of MS Excel tool development including VBA and advanced formulae.
  • Ability to develop complex models in Excel including workflows, UI elements, embedded calculations in VBA, security.
  • Experience with relational databases such as SQL Server including DML, DDL and stored procedures.
  • Experience with MS Access database design and VBA integration.
  • Skilled in automating Microsoft Office applications (Word, Outlook) through VBA.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, ability to show initiative when developing specified requirements.
  • Self-motivated, accountable and having a sense of ownership; take pride in what you code.
  • Excellent communication skills, through English, to interact with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Desirable (but not Essential) Skills

  • Experience with Agile software development methodologies like Scrum, Kanban and SAFe.
  • Ability to work as part of a globally distributed team.
  • Experience with financial applications.
  • Experience with source control such as GitHub.

What you need to bring:

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent
  • 8 - 10+ years of software application development in an enterprise environment.
