You will form part of RMM within the Mass Foundation which is one of the largest customer-facing business segments in Old Mutual. The consultant will be responsible for the end-to-end planning, execution and evaluation of corporate events & incentive programs that strengthen Old Mutual’s brand presence, foster stakeholder engagement and support business objectives. The role requires coordination across teams, venues, and suppliers while maintaining exceptional service and attention to detail. This role is ideal for a versatile professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys managing groups, events, and incentive programs from start to finish.

Strategic Planning & Execution

  • Develop and implement an annual events and incentives calendar aligned with the organisation’s strategy.

  • Plan , conceptualise and deliver events on schedule and within budget, coordinating activities across design, development, sales, marketing, and delivery.

  • Managing project teams, delegating responsibilities, scheduling follow-ups and ensuring deadlines are met.

Event Management

  • Plan, coordinate, and deliver end-to-end event logistics (venue, catering, décor, AV, branding).

  • Manage budgets, contracts, and vendor relationships to ensure cost-effective delivery.

  • Implement events calendar in collaboration with the operating unit.

  • Ensure reputational gain and compliance to events management guidelines, policies and procedures.

  • Ensure delivery of events on time, within budget, that meets or even exceeds expectations.

  • Provide input into new ideas to improve event planning and implementation process Manage and implement ad-hoc events.

  • Managing new and current supplier relationships.

Brand & Marketing Alignment

  • Collaborate with Marketing and Brand teams to ensure events reflect Old Mutual’s identity and values.

  • Integrate events into broader marketing campaigns, sponsorships, and digital platforms.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build strong relationships with clients, partners, regulators, and internal stakeholders.

  • Ensure events enhance customer trust, employee engagement, and social impact.

Measurement & Reporting

  • Drive event success by analysing ROI, attendance, and satisfaction metrics, delivering post-event insights and commercial trend reports that empower stakeholders with actionable, data-driven recommendations for continuous improvement and strategic growth.

Project Management

  • Monitor project performance, allocate work, and review completion.

  • Supervise others working within established operational systems.

Budgeting

  • Develop, track, and manage event budgets to ensure delivery within approved financial limits.

  • Monitor variances, prepare reports, and recommend corrective actions to maintain cost efficiency.

  • Collaborate with Finance and Procurement to align spending with organisational policies and compliance standards.

Operational Compliance

  • Maintain and renew a deep knowledge and understanding of the organization's policies and procedures and of relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct, and ensure own work adheres to required standards.

  • Or identify, within the team, patterns of noncompliance with the organization's policies and procedures and with relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct, taking appropriate action to report and resolve these and escalating issues as appropriate.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 6 - 8 years of experience in a similar role.

  • Events management, project management, budget management experience.

  • Diploma in Events/ Marketing Management or any relevant qualification.

  • Numerical skills.

  • Knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint.

  • Ability to negotiate best prices with suppliers.

  • Ability to travel.

  • People skills – must have a serving nature.
