Senior Environmental Scientist / Consultant – Land and Soil

We have a fantastic role in our Queensland Environment and Planning team for a capable and motivated Senior Environmental Consultant who is keen to take their career to the next stage. Our team have a strong capability from project planning and feasibility, design and construction on a wide range of projects across both Queensland and Australia. You will play an integral part in a team that ‘bring ideas to life’ for our clients across the built environment, transport, land and water, energy and government sectors.

Our current committed and projected workload provides a unique and specific opportunity for a Senior Environmental Consultant, Scientist or Engineer to join the team in our Brisbane, Mackay or Gladstone office. The role offers diverse, interesting and challenging work with the opportunity to make your mark in a consulting environment.

Here are the key things you will do:

  • Deliver Land Resource Technical scopes for Environmental Impact Statements (Under QLD SDPWO Act and Commonwealth EPBC Act)
  • Design, manage and deliver contaminated land projects and soil investigations (including acid sulfate soils, erosion and sediment control planning, monitoring, and auditing)
  • Develop and implement Sampling Analysis and Quality Plans.
  • Manage field programs including premobilisation and safety planning.
  • Coordinate and lead fieldwork campaigns including soil, groundwater and surface water sampling, supervision of drilling, test pitting and groundwater well installation.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to graduate team members.
  • Prepare high quality analysis and technical reports to ASC NEPM and PFAS NEMP requirements.
  • Confident with data management and software with solid technical writing capability.
  • Develop reports to exceptional technical and editorial standard and work collaboratively with the team to meet client expectations.
  • Collaborate with inter-disciplinary teams; liaise with clients and regulators.
  • Proposal and project management of projects.

What are we looking for from you?  

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Degree in environmental engineering or science disciplines.
  • Relevant experience in undertaking contaminated land and/or soil/Land Resources investigations:
  • A strong professional work ethic and commitment to health and safety for yourself, your team, subcontractors and clients
  • Understanding of the Environmental Protection Act 1994 and National Environment Protection Measures and other current and emerging Queensland legislation, standards and guidelines for contaminated land.
  • Experience in erosion and sediment planning and assessment, and CPESC/RSP-ESC accreditation (desired)
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Current open driver’s license.
