Position Overview

The Senior Engineering Manager for Shop facing technology is responsible for driving the technical vision for platforms that are leveraged by the shops for their operations. This role balances hands-on engineering tasks with leadership responsibilities, fostering innovation and collaboration to deliver high-quality applications. They serve their team with a people-first approach to coaching and mentoring, ensuring the team has the resources and training necessary to succeed. The Senior Engineering Manager is responsible for code, strategy, architecture and design reviews and translating data into reports for leadership. The role is responsible for building/coaching and growing an AI native Engineering team. The role is also responsible for working with various vendor platforms to integrate in accordance with architecture patterns. The role will oversee a complex ecosystem of SaaS solutions and lead a team focused on building robust integrations, APIs, observability and data pipelines that unify these disparate systems into a seamless experience for our shop crews and HQ functions to support the shop. 

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Technical Leadership and Innovation: 

  • Define in collaboration with Delivery and Business, and execute the platform roadmap aligned with business goals 

  • Lead the build/grow of the Engineering team in native AI first environment. 

  • Drive adoption of emerging technologies and best practices 

  • Lead solution design and code reviews to ensure high-quality, scalable solutions 

  • Optimize development workflows and deployment processes 

  • Translate technical achievements and data into insightful reports for leadership 

  • Continuous improvement to automate processes and eliminate manual touches by business and Tech 

  • Partner with vendors to influence their roadmaps, manage API versioning, and troubleshoot deep-seated technical conflicts.

  • Lead the design and development of end to end  integration of Shop Tech systems. 

  • Develop with Product team and communicate a 6–12 month tech roadmap that eliminates manual workarounds

 

Team Development and Operational Excellence: 

  • Build and mentor a high-performing team of full-stack developers 

  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators for the development team 

  • Implement robust quality assurance processes for application testing 

  • Ensure timely delivery of projects across Shop, marketing, Finance, and internal tools 

  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and innovation within the team 

 

Cross-functional collaboration and business impact:  

  • Collaborate with product management and Shops Ops business teams to deliver exceptional user experiences 

  • Ensure applications meet security standards and data protection requirements 

  • Drive improvements in application performance, observability and user satisfaction metrics 

  • Work closely with Shop operations and Product teams to understand pain points and provide technical solutions.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field with a strong emphasis on mobile technologies - or equivalent relevant experience, required

  • 8+ years of experience working in the Engineering capacity

  • 4+ years of experience managing a team of engineers

  • Deep technical expertise in managing 3rd party SaaS ecosystems and integrating applications. 

  • 2+ experience working on AI based tools. 

 

Location Requirement: 

This position is required to be in Phoenix, Arizona and required 4 days/week in office.
