Why Hover wants you

Hover is looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to lead our Capture team, a critical group at the center of our 3D property scanning platform. The Capture team owns two core experiences that power every scan:

  • The guided mobile capture workflow used by customers to scan properties and collect high-quality data for our 3D reconstruction pipeline.
  • Our external Capture SDK, which enables enterprise customers to embed Hover’s capture technology directly inside their own iOS and Android applications.

This team operates across native iOS and Android, interfaces with our React Native application, and directly impacts scan quality, user success, and enterprise adoption. In this role, you will lead a high-impact team responsible for ensuring that capturing data with Hover is intuitive, reliable, and scalable—for both end users and enterprise developers. Because capture is the front door of our system, the work your team does directly influences the performance of our entire platform, from scan completion to reconstruction quality to customer trust.

You will contribute by

In this role, you will lead and scale a high-impact mobile engineering team responsible for both Hover’s end-user capture experience and our enterprise Capture SDK across iOS and Android. You will own the capture experience end-to-end, partnering closely with Product and Design to deliver an intuitive, guided scanning workflow that helps users capture accurate property data while continuously improving completion rates and scan quality through metrics and user insights. You will also lead the evolution of Hover’s external Capture SDK platform, establishing strong practices for API lifecycle management, versioning, documentation, and release processes while partnering with customer-facing teams to support integrations and improve developer experience. In addition, you will raise the reliability bar across the capture system by improving observability, crash-free performance, upload reliability, and system stability across diverse devices and network conditions. 

Finally, you will build a team culture that ships by coaching engineers and tech leads, creating clarity around priorities and tradeoffs, and strengthening how the team plans, executes, and delivers work in a fast-moving product environment.

Your background includes

  • 10+ years of engineering experience, including at least 4+ years managing engineers and leading product-focused teams
  • Deep experience building and delivering native mobile applications (iOS and/or Android) at production scale
  • Experience shipping complex user-facing workflows that involve real-time feedback or sensor-driven interactions (such as camera, scanning, AR, mapping, or media experiences)
  • Experience building or maintaining a developer platform or SDK, including API lifecycle management, documentation, and release discipline
  • Strong cross-functional leadership skills with the ability to align Product, Design, QA, Support, and Customer teams
  • A track record of improving reliability, quality, and performance in systems that operate at scale

Bonus points

  • Experience working with camera pipelines, real-time processing, AR frameworks, SLAM, or computer vision–adjacent systems
  • Experience supporting enterprise customers and SDK integrations
  • Familiarity working in mixed technology stacks (native mobile and React Native)
  • Experience designing robust upload or synchronization systems that handle offline use, poor connectivity, and background transfers

Hybrid roles at Hover

Hover has Hubs in San Francisco and New York City, where we expect that all employees living within a 50-mile radius of our offices will come into their local Hover office at least three times a week to build rapport and foster organic connection. At this time, Hover is not considering fully remote roles.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is  $247,000 - $304,000 annually. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all applicable US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
