About the Role

We’re looking for a sharp, product-obsessed Senior Engineering Manager to own Amplitude’s Experiment product and team end-to-end. This is not a “keep the lights on” role.

You’ll lead one of Amplitude’s flagship products, shaping roadmap, architecture, execution, and team, with real autonomy and executive backing. If you want to ship fast, build a world-class team, and deliver measurable impact for customers, we should talk.

What You'll Do

  • Own the Experiment product, technical direction, execution, and team performance.
  • Ship like it’s your name on the commit. Because it is.
  • Partner deeply with Product, Design, and Tech Lead to turn raw customer pain into breakthrough solutions
  • Build and scale systems that process billions of requests without blinking.
  • Drive high engineering standards while knowing when speed beats perfection.
  • Hire, grow, and retain A+ engineers. No passengers.
  • Create a culture where people love the work, move fast, and deliver real outcomes.

You Might Be a Great Fit If:

  • You have 8+ years of engineering experience, including some part of that experience leading high-performing teams.
  • Have shipped complex, high-impact products in fast-moving environments.
  • Hold strong opinions on architecture, quality, and the speed vs. scale tradeoff.
  • Mastery of a modern stack (JS/TS, Python, Java, AWS - you get it).
  • Have fully embraced AI and are regularly pushing PRs.
  • Have sharp product instincts, you ask “why?” before “how?”.
  • Thrive in scrappy environments and know how to do more with less.
  • Enjoy engaging directly with customers and learning from them.
  • Experience (or strong interest) in behavioral analytics.

Bonus Points

  • You’ve built or heavily used an experimentation or feature flagging platform before.
  • You’ve led a team during a “holy sh*t we’re growing fast” phase.
  • You write code when it makes sense, and know when to get out of the way.

Why This Team, Why Now?

Experiment is a core pillar of the Amplitude platform and a key driver of customer impact.

The product is deeply full-stack, from web and mobile SDKs to a sophisticated UI to high-volume backend systems used by millions.

You’ll get:

  • Real ownership, not proxy ownership
  • Executive support and strategic visibility
  • A strong, mission-driven team
  • The chance to shape how modern product teams make decisions
