The Opportunity ​

This position will provide support to our Medical Devices, Vascular manufacturing facility in Barceloneta, Puerto Rico. Our medical devices help more than 10,000 people have healthier hearts, improve quality of life for thousands of people living with chronic pain and movement disorders, and liberate more than 500,000 people with diabetes from routine fingersticks and Abbott Vascular provides innovative, minimally invasive, and cost-effective products for treatment of vascular disease.

As Senior Engineering Manager responsible for the planning, coordination, and administration of the entire Abbott Vascular Puerto Rico (AVPR) engineering team, including exempt and non-exempt personnel.  This team oversees the manufacturing engineering line support, equipment maintenance and reliability, and capital plan.


What You’ll Do

  • Manages manufacturing line engineers who report through a manager.

  • Responsible for leading continuous improvement projects.

  • Manages the capital engineering group, who report through a manager.

  • Work with finance in the identification of expense and capital requirements relative to CIP projects in alignment with division dates.

  • Manages the equipment and facilities maintenance group, who report through a manager.

  • Planning & scheduling maintenance work, critical spare replacements for facilities and production equipment.

  • Establishes and controls the department budget.

  • Evaluates direct and indirect reports within his/her organization and establishes training and/or action plans to overcome reporting personnel needs and promote personal growth.

  • Cultivates an internal and external network of resources to complete tasks.

  • People Management

  • Coordinate instructor-led training for Process/equipment knowledge, including process/equipment green belt/problem-solving.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree Engineering and Administrative.
    Minimum 10 years of previous project engineering management relevant experience.

  • Leadership experience is required. Strong leadership skills, including the ability to set goals and provide positive and constructive feedback respectfully to build positive relationships and improve business results.

  • Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross-division business unit model preferred.

  • Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment.

  • Ability to work effectively within a team in a fast-paced, changing environment.

  • Ability to work under pressure, good judgment and initiative.

  • Strong interpersonal and project management skills.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.

  • Excellent communication skills in both: English and Spanish

  • Multi-tasks, prioritizes, and meets deadlines in a timely manner.

  • Strong organizational, planning, and follow-up skills, and the ability to hold others accountable.

  • Ability to travel approximately 10-15%.

The base pay for this position is

$116,000.00 – $232,000.00

In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
