The Senior Engineer plays a critical role in driving high-quality software development and technical innovation within the Search and Location Squad. They help shape the squad’s technical direction by architecting scalable, high-performance APIs, writing and reviewing high-quality code, and ensuring all technical solutions align with Domain’s broader engineering strategy. Leveraging deep expertise in .NET, OpenSearch, and AWS, the Senior Engineer will lead the delivery of complex features, mentor and uplift junior engineers, and champion engineering best practices to continually enhance the search experience for our customers.

1. Technical Excellence
Delivery Quality: Consistently build high-quality, scalable, and reliable solutions in collaboration with peers and Tech Leads.
Best Practices: Champion and adopt Engineering best practices while staying current with industry trends and applying them judiciously.
System Health: Actively contribute to the System Health and Technical Debt backlog, driving engineering efficiency for owned services.
Cross-Domain Influence: Contribute expertise to forums like the dotnet Guild and Architecture Guild, collaborating with Principal Engineers on system improvements.
2. Leadership and Collaboration
Mentorship: Mentor Junior Engineers effectively in solution design and delivery best practices.
Product Alignment: Develop a deep understanding of the product and business domain, collaborating with Product Owners to ensure solutions meet customer needs.
3. Operational Rigor
System Stability: Fulfill on-call duties by responding to and resolving incidents.
Proactive Maintenance: Continuously improve processes and software quality to reduce incident frequency over time, and actively maintain, update, and patch systems.

Design embedded into cross-functional ways of working, influencing product discovery and roadmaps.

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
10+ years in product design (UX/UI), including 5+ years in a design leadership role.
A strong portfolio that reflects user-centred, data-informed design solutions across complex products.
Experience in agile environments and cross-functional collaboration.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
Deep knowledge of design systems and scalable design practices.
A passion for mentoring and developing high-performing teams.
Strong influencing skills: you're seen as a strategic partner, not just a service function.
Education
Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
Core Technical Expertise
Deep expertise in .NET and C#, with strong experience building high-scale, high-performance backend services.
Strong practical experience with AWS cloud services, including ECS, Lambda, and CloudWatch.
Advanced understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles and their practical application in complex systems.
Solid knowledge of modern architectural patterns such as microservices and distributed system design.
Platform & Delivery Experience
Experience designing software solutions built for high scale and high traffic websites.
Proficiency with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins) and Git version control.
Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker.Experience working effectively within Agile environments.
Leadership & Collaboration
Proven ability to mentor and coach more junior engineers.
Experience working in cross-functional teams (collaborating effectively with Product, and Technology peers).
Experience collaborating with Tech Leads to optimize engineering practices and processes for team efficiency.
Desired (Bonus) Qualifications
Security: Familiarity with modern Application Security Practices (OWASP).
Certifications: AWS, Azure, or GCP Certification.
