Key responsibilities and activities include, but is not limited to:
Routine Maintenance
Perform daily checks of machines, pipelines, pumps, compressors, valves, gearboxes, and conveyors.
Carry out lubrication, cleaning, tightening, and replacement of small parts.
Ensure correct alignment and fitting of mechanical components.
Breakdown Maintenance
Respond quickly to machine/equipment breakdowns.
Dismantle, repair, and reassemble mechanical parts using hand tools and power tools.
Assist in welding, gas cutting, grinding, and other basic repair activities when required.
Preventive Maintenance
Follow preventive maintenance schedules given by supervisors.
Inspect equipment for wear & tear, leakages, abnormal noise, or vibration.
Replace faulty bearings, gaskets, seals, O-rings, and other fittings.
Fabrication & Assembly
Read mechanical drawings and fit parts as per specifications.
Perform drilling, tapping, filing, grinding, and basic fabrication work.
Assemble and install machines, pipelines, and structural supports under supervision.
Safety & Compliance
Follow standard safety practices (use of PPE, Lockout/Tagout, fire & chemical safety).
Maintain cleanliness of workshop and work area.
Ensure tools and tackles are handled safely and stored properly.
Documentation & Reporting
Fill maintenance checklists and log sheets.
Record breakdown details, spare parts used, and work completed.
Report repeated failures or abnormal conditions to senior technicians/engineers.
Support Activities
Assist in installation and commissioning of new machines.
Help in shifting, rigging, and alignment of heavy equipment.
Maintain proper care of measuring instruments and hand tools.
