Vice President, Platform and Operations

As a Senior Platform Infrastructure Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining and managing our cloud infrastructure in Google Cloud Platform (GCP), AWS and Azure. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that our cloud solutions align with business objectives and industry best practices. Your expertise will be pivotal in optimizing our cloud environment for performance, cost-efficiency, and security. You will be expected to utilise bleeding edge AI tooling to help optimise for the future.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, and manage scalable, secure, and resilient cloud infrastructure on GCP.

  • Automate cloud operations and infrastructure as code using tools such as Terraform.

  • Monitor cloud infrastructure performance, identify issues, and implement solutions to ensure high availability and reliability.

  • Optimize cloud resources for cost-efficiency while maintaining performance and security standards.

  • Lead incident response and troubleshooting efforts for cloud-related issues.

  • Automation, Tooling & AI Integration

  • Collaborate with development, operations, and security teams to define cloud architecture and implement best practices.

  • Integrate and utilize AI-powered tools to enhance platform operations, such as:

  • Applying LLM-based coding assistants (e.g., Claude Code, Gemini Code, GitHub Copilot) to accelerate infrastructure provisioning and debugging.

  • Leveraging AI for advanced log analysis, anomaly detection, and predictive maintenance within the observability stack.

  • Building prototypes for Generative AI applications to assist developers with documentation generation or creating self-service scripts.

  • Build and enhance the internal developer platform (IDP) to offer self-service tooling, driving efficiency across engineering teams.

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for cloud infrastructure and processes.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

  • Proven experience in cloud infrastructure engineering, with a focus on GCP or AWS.

  • Strong Kubernetes experience.

  • Proven expertise in designing and managing cloud environments, including compute, storage, networking, and security components.

  • Strong experience with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar.

  • Proficiency in scripting and automation using languages such as Python, Go or Bash.

  • In-depth understanding of cloud security best practices and compliance frameworks.

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect).

  • Experience with containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.

  • Familiarity with hybrid cloud environments and multi-cloud strategies.

  • Practical experience using AI coding and productivity tools (e.g., Gemini CLI, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot) for infrastructure-related tasks.

  • Experience integrating generative models (LLMs) or similar AI components into automation workflows or internal developer tooling.
