Micron Technology is a world leader in innovating memory and storage solutions that accelerate the transformation of information into intelligence, inspiring the world to learn, communicate and advance faster than ever.

The Construction Engineering Group at Micron Technology provides senior technical leadership to ensure Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) systems are engineered and constructed to meet long‑term performance, reliability, and safety requirements. Principal engineers engage early in project development to drive constructability, standards compliance, and cross‑discipline technical integration. Responsibilities include authoritative review and approval of design deliverables, development and validation of I&C system architectures, and resolution of complex technical risks.

The role provides expert support for RFIs, submittals, and field inspections, ensuring alignment with corporate standards, regulatory requirements, and lifecycle expectations. Through close collaboration with design, construction, and project stakeholders, the Construction Engineering Group ensures I&C systems are delivered with technical rigor and readiness for sustained operation.

Responsibilities

  • Own and manage I&C systems post-construction, including PLCs, SCADA, DCS, and field instrumentation (e.g., sensors, transmitters, valves).
  • Ensure operational reliability by validating system performance, conducting root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with commissioning teams to verify system functionality and ensure smooth transition from construction to operations.
  • Develop and maintain preventive and predictive maintenance strategies for I&C assets.
  • Monitor system health using diagnostic tools and performance data to proactively identify and resolve issues.
  • Coordinate with vendors and internal teams to support troubleshooting, upgrades, and lifecycle management of control systems.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and cybersecurity standards (e.g., OSHA, NFPA 70, ISA 84, IEC 62443).
  • Leverage BIM and control system platforms (e.g., Revit, Navisworks, Siemens) to support system documentation, updates, and integration.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in I&C engineering, spanning design collaboration and operational support.
  • Proficient in PLCs, SCADA, DCS, and industrial instrumentation.
  • Knowledge of relevant standards (ISA, IEC, NFPA) and cybersecurity practices.
  • Skilled in control system software, diagnostics, and BIM tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting I&C systems in semiconductor, pharmaceutical, or data center facilities.
  • Knowledge of control system cybersecurity standards (e.g., IEC 62443) and emerging technologies such as IoT and Industry 4.0.
  • Familiarity with BIM tools and workflows for system documentation and integration.
  • Ability to mentor operations staff and foster a culture of technical excellence and safety.
