Systems Applications Engineer (P3) - Automotive Communications

The Automotive Systems and Solutions Technology Team is at the forefront of developing technologies for next-generation automotive architectures. We have an opportunity for a highly motivated Systems Applications Engineer to develop and test high speed communications modules for Automotive applications. In this challenging role, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of technology areas and applications.
The Role
Design proof-of-concept wired communications PCBs/modules, using ADI and 3rd-party components.
Optimize for performance and EMC compliance.
Perform channel measurements and analysis.
Perform device level and system level testing, including scripting/automating test equipment and data gathering.
Coordinate/support EMC testing and board-level optimization.
Support ADI standards engagement by participating in, and making technical contributions to standards-development organizations e.g. in measurement, compliance and interoperability topics.
Requirements
Minimum BS in Electrical or Communications Engineering and several years’ relevant experience; MSEE and 5+ years of experience preferred.
Solid knowledge of high-speed analog (and power circuit?) design.
Experience of high-speed circuit/PCB design and simulation.
Knowledge of wired comms transceiver and SERDES functional blocks (Equalization, CDR, Noise sources, etc.) and related performance measurements.
Experience with lab equipment e.g. VNA, Oscilloscope, Spectrum Analyzer, BERT, AWG, protocol analyzers.
Experience of using Python for automation of lab equipment and measurements.
Strong problem-solving skills with an ability to understand and clearly articulate technical issues to peers, management and customers and solve problems cross-functionally.
Strong verbal and written communication skills to work effectively with teams spread geographically.
Self-motivated.
Desirable
Familiarity with EMI / EMC compliance standards and testing.
Experience with SERDES hardware testing and evaluation.
System modeling experience in Matlab/Simulink or similar tools.
Knowledge of wired and wireless communication standards.
Some Embedded software experience.
Experience with FPGAs.
