Senior Engineer, Commerce
Senior Engineer, Commerce, will lead engineering teams in designing and implementing advanced e-commerce solutions on the Shopify platform for VF. This role collaborates closely with product, support, and other engineering teams to deliver best-in-class Shopify solutions. The position is responsible for guiding a team of full-time and contract professionals across multiple locations.
Key Accountabilities:
Architect and develop scalable Shopify solutions supporting multiple storefronts.
Design and implement robust integrations with external systems (ERP, CRM, PIM, OMS, marketing platforms).
Build and maintain custom Shopify apps and middleware services.
Collaborate with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to deliver seamless user experiences.
Own the technical roadmap for Shopify platform enhancements and integrations.
Ensure platform performance, security, and compliance with industry standards.
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 2 years specializing in Shopify and Shopify Plus development.
Advanced proficiency in Liquid, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML/CSS, and Shopify APIs (REST and GraphQL).
Demonstrated expertise in integrating Shopify with enterprise systems such as Salesforce, SAP, Adyen, PayPal, or custom APIs.
Hands-on experience with headless commerce, Shopify Hydrogen, and React-based storefronts.
Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and CI/CD pipelines.
Strong understanding of eCommerce workflows, including order management and inventory control.
Effective communication and leadership skills, with a proven ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
Background in microservices architecture and event-driven systems.
Experience with data synchronization methods and ETL pipeline development.
Contributions to Shopify open-source projects or active participation in the Shopify developer community.
Experience working within Agile or Scrum frameworks.
Hiring Range:
$104,000.00 USD - $130,000.00 USD annuallyIncentive Potential: This position is eligible for additional compensation awards that may include an annual incentive plan, sales incentive, or commission potential.
