Role Description

• As a Senior Engineer (Assistant Vice President) at Deutsche Bank, you will play a pivotal role in safeguarding our organization's information systems, IT assets, and intellectual property. This is a high-impact position focused on leveraging your expertise to engineer, configure, and assure the effectiveness of Microsoft Purview, our enterprise data governance and protection platform. You will be instrumental in preventing IT-based crime, hacking, and unauthorized modifications, disclosures, or destruction of sensitive information. 

• This role sits within Data Security Pillar, focusing on engineering secure and compliant solutions. You will contribute to our Information Security strategy, evaluate internal controls, and develop pragmatic strategies to deliver effective information security management across the bank.

Your key responsibilities

• Microsoft Purview Expertise (Information Protection, DLP, DSPM): Lead the engineering and configuration of Microsoft Purview to establish enterprise-grade data governance, classification, labeling, and sensitivity policies, with a particular focus on Information Protection, Data Loss Prevention (DLP), and Data Security Posture Management (DSPM). You will be the go-to expert for Purview's capabilities and its effective deployment within our large-scale enterprise environment. 

• Secure Architecture & Integration: Design and implement scalable integration patterns to align Purview with existing cloud, data, and security platforms across the enterprise, ensuring seamless data protection and governance. 

• Advanced Security Controls: Design and implement advanced security controls to strengthen the bank’s data protection posture and ensure compliance with global regulatory frameworks. 

• Testing & Assurance: Develop and execute comprehensive testing frameworks (unit, integration, and regression) to ensure configuration reliability, compliance, and data protection accuracy within Purview and integrated systems. 

• AI & Automation: Drive operational efficiency and consistency by automating data governance workflows using PowerShell, Python, and Azure Logic Apps. Leverage AI-driven insights within Purview to continuously monitor, analyze, and optimize data classification, policy enforcement, and scanning coverage across structured and unstructured data sources. 

• Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams across cybersecurity, compliance, architecture, and risk management to align governance capabilities with regulatory and risk management objectives, ensuring a secure, resilient, and compliant data governance environment. 

• Troubleshooting & Resolution: Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues involving Purview scanning, misconfigurations, or policy enforcement gaps across hybrid and multi-cloud environments. 

• Audit & Compliance Support: Support audit, risk, and compliance activities through accurate dashboarding, lineage reporting, and control validation using Purview insights. 

• Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Maintain detailed technical documentation of configurations, workflows, and governance models to ensure audit readiness and operational transparency. Champion continuous improvement and knowledge sharing by conducting internal training, sharing best practices, and mentoring technical teams. 

Your skills and experience

• Significant hands-on experience (5+ years) in Microsoft Purview deployment, configuration, and policy management within large-scale enterprise environments, including a strong understanding of Information Protection, DLP, and DSPM capabilities. You should have a proven track record of successfully implementing and managing Purview solutions. 

• Proven expertise in data governance, information protection, and compliance automation using Microsoft and Azure ecosystems. 

• Proficiency in scripting and automation (PowerShell, Python, Azure Logic Apps) to enable scalable data protection workflows, with a strong understanding of how AI can be leveraged for enhanced automation and insights. 

• Deep understanding of data security, cloud governance, and regulatory frameworks such as GDPR, SOX, and Basel III. 

• Experience integrating Purview with Azure, Microsoft 365, and other data management platforms. 

• Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities to address governance, classification, and compliance-related challenges. 

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to bridge technical and business discussions.  

• Experience in data governance, information security engineering, or cloud compliance, preferably within financial services or other highly regulated sectors.

• CISM – Certified Information Security Manager 

• CISSP – Certified Information Systems Security Professional
