What you’ll be doing

As a Senior Energy & Sustainability Manager within Enterprise Real Estate, you will participate in the development and execution of CIBC’s energy and sustainability strategy. You will drive impactful initiatives focused on energy, water, and waste efficiency, oversee audits and conservation projects, champion the adoption of advanced technologies such as AI-driven analytics and renewable energy solutions. By collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, managing utility and market trends, and delivering training and awareness programs, you will help position CIBC as a leader in environmental stewardship and operational excellence.

How you’ll succeed

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement CIBC’s energy and sustainability roadmap and annual capital plan from concept to execution, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders and aligning with enterprise ESG goals and industry best practices.
  • Project Oversight: Lead energy, water and waste audits, efficiency and conservation projects origination, retrofit initiatives and renewable energy solutions, providing subject-matter or technical expertise and integrating advanced technologies such as AI-driven analytics where feasible.
  • Demand and Supply Side Management: Manage demand response (DR) and other demand side programs, oversee supply side management including utility bill management, tariff analysis, usage patterns, and procurement contracts, monitoring market trends and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
  • Data Management & Reporting: Oversee utility and emissions data of initiatives, ensure measurement and verification of energy projects, and prepare comprehensive reports for internal and external stakeholders (e.g., CIBC Sustainability Reporting).
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain partnerships across business units, facility managers, suppliers, and external organizations, serving as a trusted advisor.
  • Training & Awareness: Develop and deliver training programs for staff and promote employee awareness of energy and sustainability initiatives.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive innovation by adopting emerging technologies and best practices in energy management and sustainability.

Who you are

  • You have a university degree in Mechanical Engineering, Energy Management, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in energy management, sustainability, or commercial real estate.
  • Professional certifications (CEM, LEED AP, PMP, Professional Engineer) are assets.
  • Proven project management and team leadership experience.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint) and digital collaboration platforms.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience with building controls, HVAC systems, and ESG reporting.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with industry trends.
