The Senior Embedded RF Systems Software Design Engineer will play a critical role in the design, development, and testing of Azure’s complex PCBs and PCBAs. This individual will work with the HW design engineering team in the design development and testing of complex RF and mixed signal circuit boards from prototype to full rate production.
Responsibilities:
- Candidate must be a SME in writing embedded software for RF electronics PCBAs and RF subsystems.
- Candidate must have strong experience writing ATP software for testing complex RF/mixed signal PCBAs and RF subsystems for design verification and characterization testing.
- Candidate must have the ability to Architect the digital electronics portion of any new PCB design, based on requirements, which involves selection of major digital components i.e. processors, FPGAs, microcontrollers, data-converters, memory devices, etc…and capturing on block diagram.
- Candidate must have experience working with the hardware design engineer in creating large digital BGA schematic symbols for high pin count components. For example, use of pin files (or equivalent) for the import into schematic capture to create multi-instance large digital BGA devices in the schematic.
- Candidate must be able to ascertain timing requirements and have experience using pin delay files from BGA vendor for the establishment of data and clock length matching in layout.
- Creation of firmware Interface Control Document (ICDs) based on the digital interfaces on the schematic.
- Write low level firmware for board level controls via FPGA and/or microcontroller in VHDL and/or C/C++.
- Ability to control devices using various electronics components on PCBA with various interfaces such as: SPI, I2C, UART, Parallel, etc… and be able to assist in the debug of these interfaces via ability to read and write individual registers of a particular electronics device. Finally, use of oscilloscope and/or logic analyzer in the debug of such device control interfaces.
- Work with RF engineer in the control of RF devices for testing and debug.
- Experience with Digital RF (i.e. high-speed data converters, FFTs, Nyquist, etc…).
- Experience with Xilinx (and Vivado tool) and Microsemi Tool suites is a plus.
- Ability to work in multi-disciplinary cross-functional team i.e. Work with higher level software and firmware engineers, RF engineers, and systems engineers.
- Work with software, systems, and test engineers in the development of automated test code (ATP).
