Become part of making the impossible possible.

About the role:

We’re looking for a Senior Embedded Electronics Engineer to play a key role in developing the embedded hardware and firmware that power our Imaging product portfolio, Morphologi and NanoSight.

In this role, you’ll help shape system architecture, contribute to technical decisions, and support and learn from others as you design electronics and embedded software. Together, we create solutions that enable precision motion control, stable illumination, high-speed capture, and reliable automation within scientifically complex instruments.

Your work will have a meaningful impact on instrument performance, reliability, and ongoing innovation across the Physical Centre of Excellence, helping us deliver technologies that make a difference

What you’ll be doing:

  • Lead the design and development of embedded electronic systems, from concept through to production release.

  • Architect, implement, and review embedded firmware in C/C++, ensuring robust, real‑time behaviour and seamless integration with optics and fluidics systems.

  • Own PCB design, mixed‑signal circuits, sensor/actuator interfaces, and embedded control electronics aligned with product and compliance requirements.

  • Guide prototype bring‑up, system debugging, and EMC/safety qualification.

  • Contribute to long‑term technical strategy for Imaging electronics and embedded platforms.

  • Work closely with cross‑functional partners, software, optics, mechanical, systems, and science, to deliver integrated, production‑ready instrument designs.

  • Mentor junior engineers, raise engineering standards, and champion best practice in embedded systems within the team.

About you:

  • Deep experience designing embedded electronics and firmware for complex products.

  • Strong proficiency in C/C++ for microcontroller or RTOS‑based systems.

  • Expertise in mixed‑signal design, motion control, high‑speed interfaces, or imaging/illumination electronics.

  • Strong debugging and prototype bring‑up skills using oscilloscopes, logic analysers, and JTAG/SWD tools.

  • Experience guiding architectural decisions, reviewing designs, and supporting others’ technical growth.

  • Ability to think system‑wide, balancing performance, manufacturability, reliability, and compliance.

What’s in It for You:

  • Be a part of an ambitious, fast-growing, international company with a friendly and inclusive culture

  • Lead embedded design for innovative instruments used across science and industry.

  • Shape next‑generation Imaging platforms and influence technical roadmap decisions.

  • Supportive, collaborative team solving complex scientific and engineering problems

  • Drive growth within a leading global organisation whose purpose is to work with our customers, to make the world a better place

  • Be a key member of our team in our amazing offices, with a hybrid working model available
