We are seeking a Senior Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC/EMI) Engineer who is ready to take on challenging technical problems and make a real impact. We are seeking someone who will lead EMC/EMI strategy for advanced products, collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and solve EMI challenges early, and contribute to design decisions that shape the next generation of aerospace systems.

What You Will Do

  • Drive development and qualification activities for assigned programs and projects, ensuring EMC compliance while meeting technical, cost, and schedule objectives.

  • Review and translate high-level EMI/EMC requirements to system and circuit-level specifications.

  • Support hardware and system design efforts, including design reviews, to meet product performance requirements for Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) compliance per DO-160, MIL-STD-461, and other relevant standards.

  • Create EMC control plans, guidelines, test procedures, and detailed test reports.

  • Collaborate with senior EMI/EMC engineers to develop expertise in advanced EMC topics and expand technical knowledge.

  • Contribute to EMC Standard Work, identify and implement best practices, and share lessons learned with the team.

  • Develop EMI/EMC test methodologies and test setups and supervise EMC setup construction and system integration.

  • Conduct EMC assessments for design changes, including product development updates and obsolescence evaluations for component replacements.

  • Support and coordinate EMI/EMC development, qualification, and certification testing, facilitating effective communication across cross-functional teams and suppliers.

  • Identify technical and project risks, proposing mitigation plans to avoid cost and schedule impacts.

  • Explore opportunities to improve processes, accelerate schedules, and realize cost savings.

  • Demonstrate self-motivation, dependability, problem-solving skills, and a team-first approach.

  • Communicate effectively with team members, management, and customers.

  • Travel occasionally to support test setup and activities, and work extended or off-shift hours when necessary to meet critical milestones.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.

  • Technical knowledge of EMC design and aerospace product qualification testing, including knowledge of MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-464, MIL-STD-704, DO-160, or equivalent commercial standards.

  • Demonstrated capability to manage competing priorities in parallel

  • Proficiency with simulation/modeling tools (e.g., LTSpice, Ansys/CST Studio, Feko) for predicting emissions and susceptibility performance.

  • Experience with EMC analysis and related tools, including evaluation of design changes and identification of resulting impacts to EMC performance.

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
