The Opportunity

As Senior Electrical Engineer – Mining, you will take end‑to‑end accountability for the planning, coordination, execution, and delivery of electrical construction and maintenance projects within mining environments.

Working closely with Project Managers and the Electrical Engineering Manager, you will act as the electrical lead on projects—ensuring safe, compliant, on‑time, and on‑budget delivery while meeting customer expectations and statutory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Project Management & Delivery

  • Lead electrical construction and maintenance projects from concept through commissioning and close‑out.

  • Implement and maintain effective project controls for scope, schedule, cost, quality, and risk.

  • Plan, tender, and execute works to meet customer, operational, and contractual requirements.

  • Lead construction and commissioning activities, proactively managing technical and execution risks.

  • Prioritise and sequence work activities to achieve safe, reliable, and timely project outcomes.

Commercial & Financial Management

  • Manage electrical project budgets, including forecasting, cost control, and variation management.

  • Prepare and submit progress claims, variation documentation, and commercial reports.

  • Provide accurate monthly reporting on project financial performance.

  • Maintain commercial accountability, negotiating scope changes and ensuring agreed deliverables are achieved.

Safety, Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure all works are delivered in compliance with workplace health and safety legislation, company policies, and site requirements.

  • Lead hazard identification, risk assessment, and implementation of effective controls.

  • Deliver projects in accordance with the GBI Project Management Framework and Site Safety & Health Management System.

  • Execute responsibilities under the Quality Management System, ensuring disciplined reviews and zero technical errors.

Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Coordinate effectively with clients, consultants, suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors.

  • Supervise and manage trades and subcontractors to GBI and site standards.

  • Collaborate closely with project teams, operations, and Head Office to ensure alignment and optimal resource utilisation.

  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication and professional delivery.

  • Demonstrate leadership through resilience, adaptability, and a positive, solutions‑focused approach.

Engineering & Technical Accountability

  • Take accountability for concept‑level electrical design and multi‑discipline coordination.

  • Manage interface activities across engineering disciplines to support accurate planning, budgeting, and forecasting.

  • Develop, document, and maintain company standards for typical electrical works.

  • Prepare comprehensive construction and commissioning work packs.

Capability Development

  • Mentor, coach, and develop engineers and project staff to strengthen internal capability.

  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives across safety, productivity, and cost efficiency.

Site & Field Engagement

  • Attend mine sites as required to inspect, coordinate, and manage works.

  • Site engagement may be short‑term or extended during project start‑up and execution phases.
