Senior Electrical Engineer

UK - Hertfordshire - Ware Full time

The Engineering function at the GSK Ware Manufacturing and Supply site provides technical expertise to support manufacturing, automation, and control systems across production operations—helping ensure targets are achieved safely, compliantly, and reliably.

We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join the Utilities and Facilities team at the Ware manufacturing site.

You will provide technical expertise and assurance as the Electrical Subject Matter Expert, guiding a team of electrical technical resources to deliver work safely and in full compliance, aligned to site strategy and business needs. As the technical authority, you will ensure electrical assets and site infrastructure comply with all relevant GSK and national standards. The role also supports the Capital Project Team to develop and deliver the Facility Investment Plan and the electrical scope of capital projects across the campus. You will deputise for the Lead Electrical Engineer & Energy Manager (Senior Authorised Person) as required.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Maintain and operate a safe and reliable High Voltage (HV) and Low Voltage (LV) electrical distribution system for the site (including building control systems, fire detection, and intruder protection).

  • Develop technical specifications and standards for capital projects, and manage delivery of assigned projects across the site.

  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, Global Engineering Standards, and Engineering Alerts; engage with the Centre of Excellence, above-site engineering forums, other sites, and senior stakeholders.

  • Fulfill Authorised Person responsibilities to ensure safety standards across the HV and LV network, including management of electrical processes that support ongoing manufacturing and audit readiness.

  • Own the campus electrical maturity model, including briefing senior site duty holders and above-site stakeholders.

  • Manage and support continuous improvement activities across the site; diagnose issues quickly and provide specialist expertise or mobilise appropriate resources.

This role suits a motivated person with strong experience in a complex manufacturing environment. Electrical engineering knowledge and experience are essential; you will be a qualified electrical engineer with strong people and stakeholder-management skills. You will be solutions-focused, able to drive performance, and a collaborative team player within a matrix organisation.

About Ware Manufacturing Site:

Medicines at Ware are presented as either respiratory devices or oral solid dose forms. The site holds a unique position in our network as the only site responsible for launching the company’s pipeline of new medicines in these dose forms—many of which are life-saving. Significant investment in state-of-the-art equipment is underway to support the delivery of a record number of new products.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Relevant qualifications and/or experience (e.g., an Electrical Engineering degree and experience in an electrical engineering role).

  • Expert knowledge in electrical engineering, including safe and practical operation on 11kV electrical infrastructure assets and LV distribution infrastructure.

  • Knowledge of fault level analysis and coordination studies.

  • Knowledge of electrical, quality, safety, and environmental regulatory requirements, and the processes required to manage them.

  • Experience with audit processes, preparation, and requirements.

  • Ability to plan, organise, and manage workloads (self and others) to meet deadlines and targets.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills at all levels, including presentation skills.

  • Proven ability to identify true root causes and develop effective mitigation proposals.
