Allegro MicroSystems

Senior DYE Engineer

Alabang, Muntinlupa City, Philippines Full time

The Allegro team is united by a clear purpose—advancing technologies that make the world safer, more efficient, and more sustainable. With over 30 years of experience in semiconductor innovation, we bring that purpose to life across every part of the business—from breakthrough product development and customer success to how we show up for each other and the communities we serve.

The Opportunity:
The Senior Device Yield Enhancement Engineer is a key technical leader responsible for driving significant improvements in product YIELD, quality, and reliability across the entire semiconductor manufacturing lifecycle. This role requires a subject matter expert who will own the resolution of complex YIELD challenges, from wafer fabrication through final test. The successful candidate will lead cross-functional teams, manage critical foundry relationships, and leverage advanced data analysis to architect and implement robust solutions that directly impact product cost and performance.

What You'll Do:

  • Foundry Management & Excursion Control:

    • Own the technical relationship with wafer fabrication sites, acting as the primary point of contact for all YIELD-related matters.
    • Lead the management of foundry issues, including the immediate containment of process excursions, driving root cause analysis, and ensuring the implementation of robust and permanent corrective actions.
    • Establish and maintain an active, collaborative relationship with all Fab sites to proactively address potential issues and drive continuous improvement.
  • Advanced Yield Analysis & Improvement:

    • Lead initiatives to monitor and significantly improve Probe and Final Test YIELDs by identifying and resolving influences from Wafer Fab, device design, and test processes.
    • Perform sophisticated fab evaluation correlation analysis to link wafer-level parametric data with final product performance, identifying key drivers of YIELD loss.
    • Proactively review probed materials and in-line data to identify new or emerging YIELD issues and ensure that adequate containment and characterization were performed.
    • Manage and coordinate the analysis of RMA (Return Material Authorization) lots, ensuring thorough investigation and communication of findings to relevant stakeholders.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership & Collaboration:

    • Serve as a central technical expert, interfacing with Wafer Fab, R&D, global DYE teams, Design, Process, Test, Reliability, and Manufacturing Engineering to lead the resolution of complex, multi-faceted YIELD issues.
    • Coordinate with Manufacturing Product Engineers (MPE), Operations, and Planners to design and execute engineering lots and experiments, ensuring data integrity and clear, actionable conclusions.
    • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and cross-functional team members on YIELD enhancement methodologies and best practices.

What You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a closely related technical field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in a semiconductor manufacturing environment, with a specific focus on YIELD enhancement, Fab process integration, or product engineering.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading complex YIELD improvement projects from investigation to resolution.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing technical relationships with external foundries and resolving process excursions.
  • Deep understanding of semiconductor device physics, wafer fabrication processes (e.g., lithography, etch, deposition, implant), and their impact on device performance and YIELD.
  • Expert proficiency in statistical data analysis tools (e.g., JMP, Minitab, or similar) and methodologies (e.g., SPC, DOE, regression analysis).
  • Strong knowledge of Probe and Final Test methodologies and their correlation to wafer-level data.
  • Familiarity with failure analysis techniques (e.g., SEM, FIB, OBIRCH) and their application in root cause analysis.
  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Perl) for data analysis automation is a significant plus.
