About the Role 

This is a high-impact role within HPE to lead and shape the future of hybrid cloud, private cloud, engineered systems, built for AI-driven workloads. As a Senior Distinguished Technologist, you will drive innovation, define technology roadmaps, and influence strategic business decisions across multiple products and business units. 

You will work at the intersection of private and hybrid cloud architecture, software system design, and customer-facing technical leadership. This position demands a visionary technologist who can navigate complex technical challenges, mentor technical teams, and communicate effectively with executives, customers, and internal stakeholders. 

Key Responsibilities 

Technical Strategy & Leadership 

  • Develop and drive overarching private cloud technology strategies and roadmaps that align with business objectives across multiple platforms and products.  

  • Serve as a senior technical authority on private cloud architectures (PCAI, PCBE), engineered systems, & hybrid/multi-cloud models. 

  • Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies to optimize performance, scalability, and usability of enterprise solutions.  

  • Lead innovation efforts and guide product engineering teams in delivering cutting-edge solutions and cloud services. 

Product Innovation & Architecture 

  • Provide architectural guidance and contribute to the design and development of highly complex cloud and enterprise infrastructure systems that are optimized for AI workloads. 

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product management, engineering, and field teams to incorporate customer feedback and drive product health and roadmap prioritization.  

Customer & Executive Engagement 

  • Act as a trusted technical advisor to C-level executives, technical leaders, and key customers to address complex workload requirements and architectural challenges.  

  • Lead high-stakes technical escalations, customer assessments, and solution design sessions.  

  • Translate complex technical concepts into compelling, strategic narratives for diverse audiences, including non-technical stakeholders. 

Business Enablement & Innovation 

  • Apply strong business acumen to align technology initiatives with growth and profitability goals.  

  • Influence high-level decisions through presentation and advocacy of cloud and AI strategies to internal leadership, partners, and industry forums.  

  • Drive sustainable innovation evidenced by patents, successful product deployments, or transformative technology implementations. 

 

Required Skills and Expertise 

  • Exceptional depth in private cloud architecture, hybrid and multi-cloud integration, & virtualization 

  • Advanced knowledge of software system architecture, distributed systems design, and performance engineering for high-scale environments.  

  • Strong leadership skills with a history of mentoring and managing technical teams in complex, ambiguous environments.  

  • Excellent communication and influencing skills with demonstrated ability to lead executive presentations, customer negotiations, and technical storytelling.  

  • Strategic mindset with the ability to weave financial implications into technology decisions and investments. 

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, or related discipline.  

  • 18+ years of progressive technical experience in hybrid or private cloud architecture  

  • Track record of leading complex strategy and technology innovation across products, engineering, and customer environments.  

  • Experience advising senior executives and influencing product and organizational roadmaps.  

  • Demonstrated impact on industry-leading technologies or disruptive cloud/AI products. 

  • Experience with engineered systems, private cloud orchestration, and mission-critical cloud application development.  

  • Dual-expertise in product development and solutions architecture  

  • Documented history of technological innovation including patents and recognized thought leadership.  

  • Ability to simplify and communicate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders and executive leadership.

The expected salary/wage range for this position is provided below. Actual offer may vary from this range based upon geographic location, work experience, education/training, and/or skill level.
– United States of America: Annual Salary USD 189,000 - 377,000 in Colorado // 204,000 - 408,000 in Massachusetts // 179,500 - 434,000 in North Carolina & Texas
The listed salary range reflects base salary. Variable incentives may also be offered.
