What is the Opportunity?

The Senior Director, Third Party Risk Management (TPRM) is part of the 2nd line of defense and accountable for the independent risk management activities of this risk.  In this leadership role, you will provide risk management expertise, advice and counsel to executives and senior management enhancing their ability to anticipate and manage third party risks effectively globally.

As Senior Director, you will be responsible for:

  • Setting Bank wide risk appetite for Third Party Risk
  • Articulating minimum risk management requirements on for this risk through ownership, development and maintenance of TPRM policies and standards
  • Providing advice and council on how to manage this risk
  • Delivering independent oversight and challenge on the Bank’s third-party risk management activities
  • Providing an outside in perspective on emerging third-party risks in this space
  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements such as OSFI’s E-21 and B-10 Operational Risk and Third-party Risk requirements respectively as well as other global requirements such as the Interagency guidance on Third-Party Relationships in the US.

What will you do?

  • Develop strategies for effective oversight of TPRM risks in line with the broader Operational Risk Framework. 
  • Accountable for the ongoing development and enhancement of the TPRM Appetite
  • Provide challenge and oversight over day-to-day business activities related to this risk
  • Provide challenge and oversight over major initiatives which have material risks in this space
  • Support the business by providing an informed view of the risks and implement new changes to policies/standards/guidelines in alignment with industry best practice and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide an independent objective opinion on TPRM for the enterprise and segments.  Develop quarterly risk profiles; deliver reports and/or scorecards on the business’ risk profiles; and support operational risk reporting on the business.
  • Develop and deliver presentations as it relates to TPRM for senior management level audiences and committees.
  • Accountable leader for regulatory engagement on Third Party Risk from an independent risk management perspective.
  • Develop effective business & industry relationships. 
  • Promote a risk aware culture and communicates and educates the business on these risks
  • Manage and support a dedicated and high performing team ensuring employees understand RBC vision while supporting and reinforcing targeted behaviors that contribute to RBC goals.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-Haves:

  • 10+ years of experience in financial services sector with a deep understanding of third-party risk management practices
  • Strong experience in operational risk management, Internal Audit or Compliance
  • Proven track record of building strong relationships across business functions
  • Strong leadership skills

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Well-developed impact and influence skills
  • Strategic mindset, with excellent knowledge and understanding of RBC businesses and organization
  • Highly developed ability for conceptual thinking
