Position Summary:
FL87 is seeking a strategic and visionary Senior Director, Project Management to lead and operationalize the execution and evolution of cross-functional programs at the interface of discovery science, platform development, and translational innovation. In this role, you will define and drive program management strategy across FL87 and its Flagship ecosystem partners—ensuring seamless coordination, proactive risk management, and delivery of critical milestones that enable scientific and business success.
The successful candidate will be results-driven, highly organized and have a proven track record in managing and driving success as a Project Manager in the pharma/biotech industry, strongly preferred with LNP-delivered genetic medicines. Furthermore, the successful candidate will have excellent communication and collaboration skills, knowledge of biotech product development particularly from a pre-clinical and clinical CMC/manufacturing perspective, and experience managing internal and external teams.
Key Areas of Leadership
- FL87 Project & Program Leadership
- Provide strategic oversight and direction across FL87's R&D portfolio, integrating scientific, operational, and business priorities to drive value creation.
- Lead cross-functional planning and execution of complex, multi-program initiatives spanning discovery, platform, and translational science.
- Develop and maintain integrated project plans, timelines, and resource maps, identifying dependencies, risks, and key decision points.
- Anticipate and mitigate program and portfolio-level risks, ensuring transparent decision-making and agile course correction.
- Partner with executive leadership to define long-term development roadmaps and investment priorities.
- Portfolio & Governance Management
- Establish and lead portfolio management processes and governance frameworks to prioritize resources, monitor performance, and guide strategic trade-offs.
- Drive executive-level reporting, metrics, and insight generation to inform leadership decisions.
- Facilitate communication and alignment across R&D, operations, and business development to ensure execution against strategic goals.
- Maintain documentation of decisions, timelines, and milestones to support alignment across programs.
- Flagship & External Partnership Stewardship
- Serve as the senior operational interface with CMC partners across the Flagship ecosystem and external parties, ensuring clear alignment on vision, goals, and deliverables.
- Coordinate inputs and communication across partner teams to ensure clarity, accountability, and transparency in decision-making.
- Represent FL87 in joint steering committees, leading discussions on progress, risk, and strategic opportunity.
- Organizational Capability Building
- Build and scale a high-performing project management function that supports FL87's growth trajectory.
- Develop and institutionalize best-in-class project and portfolio management training, methodologies, tools, and systems.
- Champion a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement across the organization.
- Cross-Functional Alignment & Communication
- Partner with functional leaders to ensure cohesive execution across scientific and operational domains.
- Communicate complex program insights and recommendations clearly and persuasively to executive and non-technical stakeholders
- Drive alignment between near-term milestones and long-term strategic objectives
Qualifications
- PhD or equivalent degree with 10–15 years of progressive experience in biotech, pharma, or related R&D environments, including 5+ years in program or portfolio leadership roles. Previous experience with lipid nanoparticles, genetic medicines, or advanced therapeutic modalities strongly preferred.
- Deep understanding of biotech product development including process development, technical transfer, manufacturing, stability studies, analytical development, regulatory filings, and clinical/commercial operations. Pre-IND experience is preferred.
- Proven experience developing and implementing governance frameworks, portfolio processes, and organizational operating rhythms.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and influence skills with a track record of building high-performing teams.
- Strong analytical, strategic, and problem-solving abilities with a bias for action and results.
- Expertise in Microsoft suite (Project, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Word, Excel, Visio, Outlook) and with SharePoint and PM tools.

The salary range for this role is $213,000 - $280,500. Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience. FL87 currently offers healthcare coverage, annual incentive program, retirement benefits and a broad range of other benefits. Compensation and benefits information is based on FL87's good faith estimate as of the date of publication and may be modified in the future.
