Senior Director, Pfizer Patient Services (PPS) Business Unit Lead

Role Summary

The Senior Director, Pfizer Patient Services (PPS) Business Unit Lead is responsible for leading a team responsible for patient services strategy, and programmatic design, for Pfizer’s Oncology / Specialty Care / Primary Care products. The Lead is responsible for delivering programs elements across the patient journey, including:

  • Overall program strategy and design
  • Copay / affordability support
  • Hub support / operations
  • External landscape monitoring
  • Program performance management

This role will sit on the [Oncology / Specialty Care / Primary Care] leadership team and will be accountable for ensuring close alignment with Business Unit and Brand strategies. This role will ensure [Oncology / Specialty Care / Primary Care] patient services programs are rooted in comprehensive understanding of the patient journey and patients’ experiences taking Pfizer’s [Oncology / Specialty Care / Primary Care] treatments.

Role Responsibilities

This is a critical role responsible for developing and executing the strategy for patient services programs for Pfizer’s Oncology/Specialty Care/Primary Care Business Units. This Lead will:

  • Represent PPS, as the subject matter expert, for Senior Business Unit Leaders
  • Serve as the interface for Patient Services teams and Business Unit partners, ensuring programs meet patient / healthcare provider needs and align to Business Unit strategies  
  • Develop and design impactful patient service programs for all priority on-market and pipeline brands
  • Track brand needs, economics, strategies, timelines, and priorities while staying abreast of therapeutic area trends
  • Identify, evaluate, and manage cost-effective vendor solutions
  • Manage and optimize PPS spend at the BU-level
  • Drive integration of PPS strategies and performance in marketing plans, therapeutic area planning documents, and executive updates
  • Proactively establish strong internal and external relationships across PPS, the Business Unit, broader Global Access and Value (GAV) functions, US Market Access (USMA), and enabling functions (e.g., Digital, Analytics, Chief Commercial Office)
  • Develop a long-term roadmap for your team’s development across a range of competencies, relevant to leadership in Pfizer
  • Build, mentor, and empower a high-performing team of professionals, responsible for designing and executing patient support programs for the BU
  • Ensure program operating procedures are in alignment with legal, regulatory and compliance standards

Basic Qualifications

Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact. 

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (MBA, MPH, etc.) preferred
  • 12+ years’ experience in Biopharma Patient Services Strategy / Operations / Program Management, Strategy / Management Consulting, or related area required
  • Experience supporting [Oncology/ Specialty Care/Primary Care] brands
  • Strong enterprise thinking, strategic planning, and financial acumen, with a data-driven mindset and the ability to connect broader organizational goals to BU-specific strategies
  • Extensive cross-functional leadership and stakeholder management experience
  • Depth in portfolio strategy, with a proven ability to identify opportunities, anticipate challenges, and guide decision-making at scale
  • Ability to influence without authority, setting business direction, priorities, and action plans
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, and prior experience in presenting to senior leaders
  • Ability to oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact
  • Commitment to developing and coaching others

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $214,900.00 to $341,100.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 22.5% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
