About the Role:

Provides strategic leadership and vision for the Patient Access function across multiple geographic zones, integrating regional strategies to optimize patient access to Company products and accelerate time to treatment. Oversees and develops multiple teams of Regional Patient Access Managers and subject matter experts, establishing best practices and ensuring consistent execution of access initiatives nationwide. May serve as the strategic partner to Executive Leadership across Commercial functions, collaborating with National Accounts, Payer Marketing, Commercial Analytics, and Operations to develop, implement, and continuously improve comprehensive patient access strategies that align with company objectives. Drives complex cross-functional initiatives to address access barriers and enhance patient journey experiences. Accountable for establishing metrics, analyzing trends, and making data-driven decisions that have long-term implications for patient access success. Develops innovative approaches to optimize pharmacy channel management across both closed-door and retail community settings. Influences key stakeholders across multiple functions to implement solutions for critical business challenges affecting patient access. Provides strategic direction on access issues related to coverage, reimbursement, distribution channels, payer policies, and financial support programs. Drives the development of new capabilities and programs to address evolving market access barriers.

Your Contributions (include, but are not limited to):

  • Develops and implements strategic vision for multiple Zone teams of Regional Patient Access Managers (RPAMs), ensuring alignment with broader functional and corporate objectives while maintaining compliance excellence
  • Establishes and leads strategic cross-functional partnerships with senior leaders in field sales, national accounts, patient services, specialty pharmacy networks, and relevant home office departments to develop and execute integrated patient access strategies with multiple targeted payers
  • Develops strategic framework and governance model for evaluating and approving closed-door and retail community pharmacies, ensuring alignment with broader market access objectives
  • Creates and implements comprehensive training and education strategies addressing complex payer-specific coverage policies, documentation requirements, appeals processes, and patient financial assistance programs across multiple regions
  • Analyzes payer trends and market dynamics to proactively identify strategic opportunities and challenges, partnering with market access leadership and national account directors to develop comprehensive solutions with long-term impact
  • Delivers strategic insights to executive leadership on patient access challenges and opportunities that impact broader business objectives related to patient access, Hub services, and Specialty Pharmacy networks
  • Leads strategic presentations on payer coverage landscape and market access trends at senior leadership business reviews and national/regional sales meetings, influencing broader organizational strategy
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • BS/BA degree in related field AND 15+ years of life science experience of which 5+ needs to in working with specialty pharmacy and five years’ leading a team within commercial. Specialty product experience, CNS preferred. OR
  • Master's or MBA degree preferred AND 13+ years of related experience OR
  • PhD AND 10+ years of related experience OR
  • Extensive previous managerial experiences also required OR
  • Previous experience in other life science roles in highly preferred
  • Strong understanding of the prescription adjudication process
  • Ability to communicate payer coverage criteria and prior authorization processes
  • Possesses good understanding of current issues within the marketplace, pharmaceutical industry, and national health care system
  • Strong understanding of specialty pharmacies, managed care, pharmacy benefit managers and government payers, and their impact on product access
  • Excellent working knowledge of patient support programs, including reimbursement support, financial assistance, and adherence programs
  • Certified Prior Authorization Specialist
  • Exhibits ability to become company-wide advisor and emerging industry expert
  • Demonstrated strategy development and implementation within areas of responsibility
  • Possesses expert knowledge of own function and broad knowledge of multiple functions and impact on business
  • Proven leadership skills and ability, including influencing across many levels of the organization,
  • Ability to effectively manage, mentor and train personnel and ability to motivate and influence personnel to achieve goals

The annual base salary we reasonably expect to pay is $238,400.00-$325,000.00. Individual pay decisions depend on various factors, such as primary work location, complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. In addition, this position offers an annual bonus with a target of 35% of the earned base salary and eligibility to participate in our equity based long term incentive program. Benefits offered include a retirement savings plan (with company match), paid vacation, holiday and personal days, paid caregiver/parental and medical leave, and health benefits to include medical, prescription drug, dental and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans.
