What are we Looking For?

SentinelOne is seeking a Senior Director of Engineering to lead and scale our engineering operations in India. This role will be responsible for building, managing, and growing a world-class engineering organization focused on our cutting-edge AI-driven data pipeline optimization platform. The ideal candidate brings extensive experience in scaling engineering teams, driving product execution, and establishing engineering excellence at high-growth technology companies. You will partner closely with our global engineering leadership while building local capabilities that directly contribute to our mission of revolutionizing enterprise observability data management. This role is based in our Bengaluru office and will play a critical part in SentinelOne's global expansion strategy.

What will you do?

  • Build and scale a world-class engineering organization in India, growing from initial team to 50+ engineers across multiple disciplines (backend, data engineering, ML/AI, DevOps)
  • Drive product execution and delivery for critical AI platform components, ensuring high-quality releases that meet aggressive growth targets
  • Establish engineering culture and operational excellence including hiring practices, performance management, career development, and retention strategies
  • Partner with global engineering leadership to define technical strategy, architectural decisions, and cross-team collaboration frameworks
  • Lead recruitment and talent acquisition efforts to attract top engineering talent across senior individual contributor and engineering management roles
  • Manage and develop engineering managers while fostering technical leadership at all levels of the organization
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration with Product, Data Science, Customer Success, and Sales teams to ensure seamless product development and customer success
  • Establish development processes and practices including agile methodologies, code review standards, testing frameworks, and CI/CD pipelines
  • Own engineering metrics and operational excellence including velocity, quality, system reliability, and team productivity measurements
  • Represent the India engineering organization in executive forums, board meetings, and strategic planning sessions
  • Build partnerships with local universities and technical communities to strengthen SentinelOne's presence in the Indian technology ecosystem
  • Ensure 24/7 global coverage through effective coordination with US and international engineering teams

What Skills and Knowledge Should You Bring?

  • 15+ years of engineering experience with at least 5+ years in senior engineering leadership roles at high-growth SaaS or technology companies
  • Proven track record of scaling engineering organizations from startup to enterprise scale, including experience building teams of 30+ engineers
  • Deep technical background in distributed systems, data engineering, cloud platforms, or ML infrastructure with ability to contribute to architectural decisions
  • Extensive experience with modern engineering practices including microservices, cloud-native development, DevOps, and agile methodologies
  • Strong background in the Indian technology market with established networks for recruiting senior technical talent
  • Experience managing engineering managers and building leadership development programs
  • Track record of successful product delivery in fast-paced environments with competing priorities and aggressive timelines
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with ability to influence and align cross-functional teams globally
  • Experience with observability, data analytics, or cybersecurity domains strongly preferred
  • Understanding of global software development including time zone coordination, cultural differences, and remote collaboration best practices
  • Strong business acumen with ability to balance technical excellence with commercial objectives and customer needs
  • Experience with performance management, compensation planning, and organizational design in technology companies
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field from a top-tier institution
  • Fluency in English with strong written and verbal communication skills for global collaboration
