POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Director of IT Transformation & Operations provides executive leadership for enterprise IT service delivery while driving execution of HTA’s multi-year IT transformation. This role is accountable for maintaining operational stability, protecting business continuity, and translating transformation strategy into measurable operational outcomes across the HTA IT organization.
Reporting to the IT Transformation Project GM, The Senior Director leads cross-functional IT leadership across infrastructure, applications, and service management to ensure reliable delivery, of business-critical services while implementing new operating models, governance structures, and performance expectations.
Serving as the operational leader during this transition period, the role ensures that transformation initiatives are effectively integrated into day-to-day operations without disrupting business performance. The Senior Director also acts as a key liaison between HTA IT, HHT IT, business leadership, and other Hitachi IT groups across the US, ensuring alignment with enterprise technology direction and long-term capability development.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

(E) Operational Leadership During Transformation
Provide executive-level oversight of day-to-day IT operations throughout the transformation period, ensuring consistent, reliable delivery of critical systems and services
Ensure continuity of business-critical IT services while organizational, process, and technology changes are implemented
Act as the primary escalation point for operational, delivery, and service-related issues, driving timely resolution and clear executive communication
Balance execution of transformation initiatives with operational risk management, business stability, and customer impact considerations
Establish and enforce interim and target-state operating rhythms, escalation paths, and decision authorities to maintain control during transition
Proactively identify emerging operational risks and service impacts associated with transformation activities and implement mitigation strategies to prevent disruption
(E) Talent, Capability & Change Enablement
Provide executive leadership and strategic direction for Infrastructure and Applications leadership teams, ensuring alignment, clear accountability, and disciplined execution of operational and transformation priorities
Maintain organizational stability, engagement, and productivity during periods of significant change by setting clear priorities, reinforcing expectations, and supporting leaders through transition
Establish and embed clear accountability models, performance expectations, and decision rights across IT leadership roles to enable effective execution and reduce ambiguity
Lead IT leadership teams through organizational and capability changes by clarifying roles, responsibilities, and ways of working as new operating models are introduced
Build leadership depth and succession readiness for critical operational and technical roles to ensure continuity, risk mitigation, and long-term relevance beyond the transformation period
Reinforce a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement that supports both near-term stability and future-state capability development
(E) Transformation Execution & Operating Model Implementation
Translate approved transformation strategy, target operating models, and governance frameworks into detailed, executable operational plans with clear milestones, ownership, and success metrics
Partner closely with the IT Transformation Project GM, HHT, and HTA VPGMs to align operational execution with enterprise strategy (roadmap), business priorities, and value realization objectives
Lead disciplined execution of transformation initiatives aligned to the multi-year roadmap, ensuring progress is measurable and outcomes are achieved
Drive adoption of standardized, streamlined processes, operating protocols, and performance management practices to embed the future-state IT model
Ensure transformation initiatives are effectively absorbed into day-to-day operations without disrupting critical business services or HTA partner commitments
Monitor interdependence, organizational readiness, and change impacts, adjusting implementation plans to balance speed of transformation with operational stability
(E) IT Governance, Portfolio & Performance Management
Guide IT program portfolio execution, ensuring initiatives are prioritized and delivered in alignment with business value, risk, and strategic objectives
Execute and reinforce portfolio governance frameworks established through the IT Transformation Project GM and executive leadership.
Implement standardized governance mechanisms for project intake, prioritization, and performance tracking
Define and embed KPIs, service metrics, and performance expectations aligned to business expected outcomes.
(E) Risk Management & Business Continuity
Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate operational risks arising from personnel, process, structural, and technology changes associated with the transformation
Ensure transformation activities effectively balance internal controls, cyber-security posture, regulatory compliance, and the stability of business-critical systems while enforcing Hitachi’s compliance standards
Maintain comprehensive business continuity oversight to protect essential IT services during periods of organizational and process transition
Establish disciplined operational oversight mechanisms, risk monitoring frameworks, and escalation protocols to identify emerging threats early and drive timely mitigation
Align closely with established enterprise risk management (ERM), internal audit, and cyber-security protocols to integrate operational risk considerations with broader Hitachi risk objectives
(E) Financial Stewardship & Cost Management
Establish operational IT cost discipline by ensuring spending aligns with approved budgets, transformation priorities and business value expectations
Guide and direct budget management to establish clear cost visibility, accurate forecasting, and ensure operational execution aligns with approved financial constraints and priorities.
Identify cost pressures, capacity constraints, delivery tradeoffs, and optimization opportunities, ensuring financial decisions are reflected in delivery sequencing and business commitments
Translate executive- and transformation-level cost decisions into realistic operational plans, resource allocations, and delivery expectations
Monitor operational spend trends, cost drivers, and resource utilization, escalating financial risks, misalignment, or variances in a timely and transparent manner
Support the IT Transformation Project GM, VPGMs, and CXO leadership with accurate, execution-level insight into cost performance, value realization, and financial risk
Reinforce a culture of financial accountability, cost awareness, and disciplined resource stewardship across HTA IT leadership and teams
(E) Stakeholder Leadership & Communication
Serve as the primary operational interface between HTA and business stakeholders during the transformation period, ensuring clear alignment between service delivery, transformation activities, and business priorities
Reinforce trust and credibility in IT services through consistent operational performance, proactive issue management, and transparent, fact-based communication
Provide executive leadership with accurate, operationally grounded status updates, risk assessments, and decision support to enable timely and informed oversight
Support the IT Transformation Project GM to contribute to executive and board-level communications by translating complex operational realities into clear, actionable insights
Coordinate structured engagement across HTA, HHT, and business leadership to maintain alignment, manage expectations, and resolve conflicts efficiently
Work effectively within a global governance environment, aligning HTA execution with HHT’s stated direction, enterprise standards, and platform strategies.
EDUCATION, LICENSES, AND/OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree required in Information Technology or Computer Science. Master’s degree preferred in (MBA, MS, or equivalent) with emphasis in Business Administration, Technology Management, Information Systems, Finance or Strategy
IT Service Management certification– (e.g., ITIL or equivalent)
Enterprise or program management certification (e.g., PMP, PgMP, or equivalent)
Change management certification (e.g., Prosci, CCMP, or equivalent)
Information security or risk management certification (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CRISC, or equivalent)
EXPERIENCE AND TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
12-15+ years of progressive IT leadership experience, including 5+ years in senior leadership roles with responsibility for enterprise IT operations, infrastructure, and applications.
Demonstrated experience leading multi-functional IT teams across infrastructure, applications, and service delivery in complex geographically distributed environments
Accountability for operational performance, service delivery, and business-facing IT leadership within a large or complex IT environment
Experience leading or supporting large-scale IT transformation initiatives or multi-year operating model changes
Experience maintaining IT operational stability and service continuity during periods of organizational or technology change
Experience managing IT budgets, cost transparency, and resource allocation in complex environments
Experience serving as a senior escalation point for operational, delivery, or service-related issues
Experience partnering with business leaders and global IT organizations in a matrixed environment
Some travel – approximately 30%
SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS

Computer and Technical Skills
Familiarity with enterprise IT environments including infrastructure (servers, networks, data centers, cloud platforms), enterprise applications (ERP, CRM, BI), and productivity suites.
Knowledge of IT service management platforms (e.g., ServiceNow, Atlassian)
Understanding of IT architecture, operational monitoring, and incident management tools.
Familiarity with ITSM and endpoint/infrastructure management tools (e.g., Freshservice, Microsoft SCCM, Intune, VMware Workspace)
Project, Portfolio, & Transformation Management
Proficiency with project and portfolio management tools such as Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, Planview, Jira Portfolio, or Clarity PPM. Experience with program tracking, milestone management, and executive reporting. Financial & Resource Management
Experience with IT financial tracking and budget management tools, Data & Analytics
Experience with business intelligence and reporting tools such as Power BI, Spotfire, SAP BW, Qlik, or Tableau
