This Senior Director is a pivotal leadership role responsible for the unified "Hybrid Infrastructure" engine of the organization. You will lead the strategy, design, and operations of our entire compute estate—spanning both the public cloud (GCP/Azure) and our core on-premises data centers.
This is a transformational leadership position. You will be responsible for architecting the organizational shift from a traditional data center model to a modern, automated hybrid cloud estate. You will lead the cultural integration of the Cloud and Infrastructure teams, serving as the primary infrastructure advisor to the VP and executive leadership team regarding multi-year capital investments and technical strategy. This leader ensures the stability, security, and performance of the traditional IT environment while aggressively driving digital transformation and our "Cloud Smart" strategy.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Hybrid Strategy Leadership: Define and execute a cohesive strategy that bridges the gap between public cloud adoption and core on-premises modernization. Determine the optimal placement for workloads to balance cost, performance, and agility across the enterprise.
Organizational Transformation & Design: Lead the long-term workforce planning and organizational restructuring required to transition from legacy operations to modern engineering. This includes managing the strategic reduction of legacy hardware footprints while upskilling staff for a "Cloud First" and "Infrastructure-as-Code" operating model.
Executive Strategy & Financial Stewardship: Act as the primary owner for the total I&O compute budget (CapEx & OpEx). Move beyond simple budget management to define Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) models that guide C-level decisions on where to place workloads (Public vs. Private) to achieve the highest business value.
Cloud Platform Engineering: Direct the development of scalable cloud platforms (GCP/Azure) and automation tools (IaC, CI/CD) that enable engineering teams to deploy applications efficiently.
Core Infrastructure Management: Lead the teams responsible for critical on-premises components, including Compute (Linux/Windows/iSeries), Virtualization, Storage, and Directory Services. Ensure long-term capacity planning and the modernization of our data center footprint.
Database Strategy (DBA): Guide the strategy for database architecture, availability, and security across both on-premises (SQL/Oracle/Postgres) and cloud environments.
Modernization & Automation: Champion the shift toward "Infrastructure-as-Code" and zero-touch operations. Lead the Automation & Patch Ops teams to standardize builds and secure the environment.
Collaboration & Voice: Oversee the engineering of modern collaboration tools (M365, Teams, Zoom) to ensure a seamless employee experience.
Skills Required:
Executive Presence & Influence: Ability to negotiate complex technical trade-offs with non-technical executive stakeholders (e.g., CFO, CEO) and drive consensus across conflicting business priorities (e.g., Speed vs. Security vs. Cost).
Extensive Cloud Leadership: Proven experience leading a cloud-focused team in a global enterprise environment, with a strong emphasis on architecture, strategy, and operations.
Deep Infrastructure Expertise: Extensive, hands-on experience managing core on-premises infrastructure, including virtualization, storage, and data centers.
Multi-Cloud Expertise: Deep knowledge and hands-on experience with both Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Microsoft Azure.
Strategic Planning: Ability to define and execute long-term strategic plans that align technology with business needs.
Automation and DevOps: Strong understanding of automation principles and experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools and CI/CD pipelines.
Security & Governance: Expertise in managing system security, integrity, compliance, and continuity across hybrid environments.
Business Acumen: Experience leading the development of business cases (ROI/TCO) and a strong ability to translate technical concepts into business value.
People Management: Demonstrated ability to evaluate, develop, and lead high-performing, large-scale technical teams in a global setting.
Change Management: Experience in assessing organizational readiness for change and driving successful transformations.
Experience & Education:
Education: Master's Degree or Equivalent Level preferred.
Experience: 15+ Years of IT Leadership experience, with at least 5 years leading hybrid or multi-cloud environments at an enterprise scale.
Transformation Experience: Proven track record of leading large-scale technical and cultural transformations, specifically moving from on-premises to cloud-native operating models.
Managerial Experience: 10 to 15 years experience interpreting strategy and policy in order to set and deliver objectives within medium to long time frames.
Financial Scope: Demonstrated experience managing complex budgets, with specific expertise in balancing large CapEx depreciation schedules against scaling OpEx cloud consumption.
