THE OPPORTUNITY

Reporting to the VP of Financial Planning and Analysis, Vir Biotechnology is looking for a Sr. Director, FP&A to support Corporate FP&A and be the lead finance business partner to the Clinical Development & Technical Operations functions.  You will serve as trusted financial advisor to our Chief Medical and Chief Technical Operations Officers and their leadership teams, providing critical financial forecasting, reporting, and insights in support of the company’s oncology and infectious disease development pipeline. The position requires strong excel, analytical, and cross functional collaboration skills, with a sound understanding of the biopharmaceutical development lifecycle.

This role is located in our San Francisco headquarters with an expectation of 3 days per week in office.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Serve as a trusted finance business partner for our Executive Leaders; serve as the subject matter expert on cross-functional project teams, offering tailored guidance for protocol amendments, program changes, major spend commitments and upcoming inflection points
  • Responsible for all aspects of Clinical Development & Technical Operations functions financials, including budget, forecast, long-range plan, early pipeline financials, scenario analysis, and ad hoc analysis
  • Oversee the development of Clinical Development financial models for annual budget cycle, mid-year forecasts and long-range plan
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance complex financial models for clinical trials and development programs, integrating enrollment projections, timelines, FTE estimates, and vendor spend.
  • Drive the Functional financial planning calendar and ensure accountability across all functions for delivering results on-time
  • Manage the consolidation of quarterly and annual financial reports related to Clinical Development & Technical Operations functions.
  • Present financial data and results to members of senior leadership team and finance management
  • Partner with Business Development to model financial impact of various deal types, including in-licensing, out-licensing, partnerships and acquisitions
  • Support evaluation, design, implementation, and maintenance of financial systems and system upgrades
  • Drive continuous process improvements in planning, modeling and reporting methodologies to support and evolving R&D pipeline
  • Mentor peers and lead FP&A professionals focused on clinical/R&D finance, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous development.
  • Support ad hoc analysis and projects across the organization

WHO YOU ARE AND WHAT YOU BRING

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in accounting, finance, or related fields with 18+ years of experience in biotech finance related roles
  • Deep experience and expertise of pharmaceutical drug development processes
  • Excel power user, experience with Netsuite, Adaptive Insights, and Coupa a plus
  • Excellent knowledge of US GAAP accounting and SOX requirements
  • Track record of effectively partnering across the organization with a collaborative style working across internal and external teams

WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE OFFER

The expected Salary range for this position is $227,500 to $318,000. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors. 

Vir Biotechnology's compensation and benefits are aligned with the current market and commensurate with the person’s experience and qualifications.
