The Senior Director - Ethics & Compliance, Gulf is responsible for leading the integration of high performance with high integrity in Lilly Gulf. The role will partner with the Gulf Management Team, the ICH, IBU and Global E&C Teams, and relevant business partners to implement the Global 7 elements E&C Program and cultivate a Speak up Culture in Gulf. The role requires working with the E&C Manager in Gulf and other affiliate functions to provide expert Ethics and Compliance guidance on affiliate strategies, decisions and activities. (including risk assessment, policies, communications, training, monitoring, etc.) in a way that effectively supports the affiliate risk management and identifying areas to improve business systems based on monitoring findings and business needs. This position is expected to have regular interactions with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment with ethics and compliance objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
E&C Program Management:
· Collaborate/consult and influence leadership to ensure the key elements of an effective compliance program are built into local governance and decision forums, business and operational processes, and training.
· Ensure reliable controls are in place and understood by the business to address key risk areas (existing and emerging) to mitigate/prevent – in the “what”, “how” and “why” so that business activities are appropriately implemented.
· Collaborate with the business together with the Gulf E&C Manager to regularly develop and implement dynamic compliance risk assessments and integrate mitigating measures into business processes.
· Support E&C procedure localization and providing input to global procedure updates.
· Contribute to developing and driving monitoring plans, root cause analysis, and meaningful corrective actions/preventive actions in close collaboration with an integrated approach across other functions (Finance, Center of Excellence, HR, Medical, Marketing, Sales, etc.).
· Actively contribute to key meetings in E&C (e.g., monitoring forums, staff, etc.) and with business partners (e.g., lead teams, ICCG committees, etc.).
· Seek out and bring in external perspectives on processes to eliminate, simplify, automate, and leverage technologies to enhance E&C capabilities and focus on business partnership
· Responsible for driving E&C-related compliance communications and training needs for the business.
· Effectively communicate the ‘state of control’ to leadership teams.
· Ensure business processes and operational procedures are consistent with Global Policies and Standards.
· Lead, together with CFO, the CAS audits implementation and follow-up at local level.
Business Influence and Cross Function Collaboration:
· Through deep business acumen and effective influence across different layers of the organization/leadership, ensure business discussions and decisions encompass and consistently take into consideration appropriate ethics and compliance elements, and that there is clear business ownership of ethics in all decisions taken.
· Influence leadership and business practices through effective communication of internal policies/standards and external environment risks.
· Ensure an open and collaborative environment that promotes teamwork, open communication, and collaborative interactions to foster a culture of integrity.
· This role collaborates with other ECOs from ICH to improve capabilities, mitigate regional risks and establish E&C Strategy in the region.
· Lead the compliance review and compliance agreement development for new business development deals.
· Represent Lilly in the local industry association and in the interactions with regulators.
· Coach and develop people in E&C including but not limited to direct report(s).
Basic Requirements:
· At least 10+ years of industry experience, leading Legal and / or E&C with knowledge of local laws, regulations, guidance and Codes. Experience within the pharmaceutical or related healthcare industry would be strongly preferred.
· Solid business knowledge and leadership experience – has the ability to influence all areas of the affiliate. This is critical success factor of this role.
· Cross functional experience.
· Agility using and working with technology, automation and AI tools as well as driving creation and implementation of digital transformation initiatives.
· English proficiency to work across and contribute to global E&C.
· Bachelor's degree.
