Agility robotics

Senior Director, Communications

Remote Full Time

Agility’s commercially deployed humanoids operate alongside teams in warehouses, manufacturing facilities, and distribution centers—tackling physically demanding and repetitive tasks while enabling workers to focus on higher-value work. With industry-leading safety standards and years of proven deployment data, we're pioneering a new era of automation that enhances human potential.

About the Role

As the Senior Director of Communications, you will play a critical role in shaping Agility’s standing in the market during a pivotal era for robotics. Your job is to move beyond the "hype" of humanoids and build a comprehensive program that proves our competitive edge through real-world results, groundbreaking innovation, and an expansive vision. You’ll be a high-visibility partner to our executives, helping to amplify their voices internally and externally, and ensuring our culture of transparency stays intact.

You will bridge the gap between masterful engineering and mainstream understanding, ensuring that whether we are talking to a business leader, an investor, an employee, or a robot enthusiast, the story is consistent, grounded, and true to Agility. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a track record of building and leading comprehensive communications programs.

About the Work

  • Narrative Strategy & Storytelling: Develop and drive cohesive narratives that engage a wide range of audiences—from C-Suite executive buyers and investors to robot enthusiasts. You’ll take complex technical concepts and translate them into stories that are relatable, memorable, and inspire action.
  • Amplify with Impact: Lead the strategy and execution for communications for major company milestones. This includes securing the microphone around investment activities, product launches, new capabilities, and major industry events. You’ll look for moments where Agility can weigh in, moving beyond traditional PR to create moments that cut through the noise.
  • Thought Leadership & Executive Profile: Establish Agility—and our leadership team—as the definitive voices in humanoid robotics. You will identify and secure centerstage speaking opportunities, podcasts, and bylines that position us as the industry leaders in translating vision to real-world value.
  • Crisis & Reputation Management: You’ll lead our crisis communications strategy, providing counsel to leadership and maintaining a steady hand during high-stakes moments.
  • Internal Channel Strategy and Execution: You own the flow of information to employees, working in close partnership with our People team. You’ll lead the way in communicating organizational changes or company milestones, focusing on what these changes mean for the individual employee and the future of the industry.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: You will be a highly collaborative partner, working in lockstep with Brand Marketing to activate campaigns across earned channels.
  • Media Relations: Build and maintain deep, trust-based relationships with top-tier business, tech, and industrial reporters. You should know when to pitch a deep-dive feature and when to use levity to tap into cultural moments for humanoids.

About You

  • 12+ years in communications, with a proven track record of building and scaling programs that reach multiple audiences from the ground up—ideally in high-growth tech, AI, or hardware.
  • You write clearly and concisely, avoiding the "grandiose" trap of the robotics market. You can capture the precision of our hardware while making the "human" benefit of the technology feel personal.
  • You have a strong bias for action, backed by incisive strategic instincts. You thrive in fast-paced environments and enjoy bringing clarity and direction when faced with ambiguity.
  • You have a genuine curiosity about how things work. You can sit with engineers, understand the nuance of a new feature, and explain its value to a Tier-1 business journalist without losing the technical integrity.
  • You earn trust fast through directness and competence. You are comfortable giving the C-suite constructive coaching and providing a clear path forward under pressure.

Bonus Points

  • Ownership: You proactively identify opportunities, take initiative on solutions, and follow through on commitments.
  • Trust: You listen as much as you talk and take responsibility for collective success.
  • Adaptability: You’re smart with resources, focus on outcomes, and can pivot effectively as our industry evolves.
