Job Description
 

Senior Director Commercial Operations (m/f/d) German Affiliate

Demonstrates extensive leadership skills with an ability to set a vision, to lead change, and to lead and mentor others. Able to lead in a matrix team.
Highly developed skills as planner with ability to formulate, develop and execute training strategy.
Highly developed interpersonal skills with ability to lead, interact with, focus, resolve conflict and drive consensus among individuals from groups of disparate individuals.
Demonstrates excellent commercial training skills and extensive knowledge and/or expertise in each area such as commercial and core business skills.
Excellent project, people and budget management skills in the areas of training, performance management, planning, prioritization, objective setting, meeting management and plan execution.
Has previous experience in best-in-class commercial training which includes a familiarity with a variety of the training field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
Able to identify, select, manage and evaluate external agencies, including vendors to develop programs and materials.

Sales Analytics & Ops
Demonstrates strong leadership skills with experience over a diverse and broad set of functions.
Highly developed interpersonal skills with ability to lead, interact with, focus, resolve conflict and drive consensus among individuals from a variety of cultures, and disciplines.
Has a proven ability to sustain a high energy level over time.
Demonstrates outstanding multi-tasking and delegation skills with the ability to direct key changes through leadership and mentoring.
Strong knowledge of the roles of other functions and how to optimize the partnership with each.

Specific Job Responsibilities:
CL&D
Accountable for setting the long-term vision for the Commercial Learning and Development group.
Ensures resources are in place to deliver vision and arbitrates resource allocation decisions.
Builds key relationships with the most senior members of management identified as Learning and Development’s customers.
Facilitates relationships with more junior members of the Learning and Development team and with internal customers.
Resolves critical strategic or elevated issues and facilitates discussion and agreement.
Collaborates with Commercial Operations functional heads to coordinate all components of the training approach, including curricula at a high level.
Accountable for establishing appropriate procedures, systems, metrics and infrastructures to support training operations.
Develops leadership team and responsible for identifying when changes to the organization are needed.
Develops, coaches and manages key functional staff. Inspires culture and institutes key processes.
Leads by example, respecting Gilead values.
Oversees the resolution of return on investment issues for training expenditure across the business, arbitrates investment decision-making.

Sales Analytics & Ops
Serves as a key member of the senior leadership team for the Commercial Operations organization.
Leads the team, ensuring best-in-class operational support to the Sales and Marketing organizations.
Works closely with and provides support to Market Research, Commercial Learning and Development, Business Operations and Pricing and Contract Compliance
Represents the department in developing strong business relationships with key functional areas including: Commercial, Marketing, National Accounts, FP&A, Legal, HR, IT, and Manufacturing.
Provides a strategy and infrastructure guidance that enables the department to achieve operational excellence across diverse areas of concentration.
Optimally leverages and appropriately allocates human and financial resources across business units and franchises.
Responsible for the long-term growth and evolution of the team including:

  • Organizational structure

  • Scope of responsibilities and focus

  • Ensuring the right mix of growth opportunities for personnel

  • Coaching and development of management team

  • Creating a culture of empowerment with accountability

Identifies and keeps others focused on key metrics that drive the business.
Delegates significant responsibilities to subordinate managers and holds them accountable for results.
Translates over-arching business goals into specific objectives for each team member.
Assesses and leverages strengths, weaknesses and styles of key players in the organization.
Identifies current and future trends in industry and competitor use of sales data, selects data sources and focus areas which will help inform strategic decision-making.
Using sophisticated quantitative analysis and engaging presentation style, influences senior manager decision-making on marketing mix to maximize effectiveness.
Determines the need for new sales incentive compensation systems and processes to maintain competitive market position, builds business case through alignment of strategy with department objectives.
Develops and implements customized tools to support and simplify the selling and sales management processes to match needs and market specific dynamics.
