Job Description Summary

The Senior Director – APAC Finance is a trusted business partner to the VP/GMs of Waters Biosciences and Waters Advanced Diagnotics divisions and in enabling and delivering long term sustainable growth for the company. This role is a key member of the APAC Management Team in deploying resources (i.e. human capital, financial and assets) to create maximum value for the company. This position plays a critical role in the development and implementation of financial, strategic and growth objectives aimed to provide long term profitable growth for the region. This role manages a team of 10 employees located across APAC and will report directly to the Vice President of Finance, Waters Biosciences which is based in the USA, Milpitas location and dotted line into Vice President of Finance, Waters Advanced Diagnostics which is based in USA, Sparks location. APAC region includes Japan, Korea, Australia, India and South East Asia.

Job Description

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Business Partnering, Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Partners with VP/GM, supporting the management team in driving and achieving financial targets.  Provides business and financial counsel to ensure that business objectives are attained
  • Functions as the lead fiduciary steward for the region, ensuring compliance requirements and controls are enforced
  • Delivers quality reporting, financial planning and finance processes
  • Provides insights and analyses that assist the organization in making sound business decisions to enable sustainable revenue growth. Provides capital management, business planning, forecasting, and accounting advisory services.
    • Plans by prioritizing customer, employee and organizational requirements
    • Defines, develops and implements business strategies/models linked to overall growth objectives for the region. E.g., sales channels (direct/indirect), pricing policy, discount structures, distributor agreements etc.
  • Creates sustainable value from leveraging Finance and Administration Operations
    • Reviews and harmonizes processes across key cycles
    • Drives sustainable productivity from within the organization
    • Aligns region with Global policies and processes to ensure consistency
  • Drives cross-functional alignment, obtaining productivity and synergies

Finance, Business Technology & Customer Service

  • Leads APAC Finance for Waters Biosciences and Advanced Diagnostics divisions. Sets direction, defines goals and measures progress/success
  • Oversees the operations of the finance and accounting:
    • Monitors, measures, controls business using appropriate analytics and metrics
    • Manages the preparation of all financial reports and forecasts
    • Evaluates, analyses data, providing cost effective solutions/recommendations. E.g., contract negotiations; contract administration and review; investment proposals; sales incentive plans/controls
  • Fosters a culture of strong financial discipline and business integrity
  • Provides stewardship of Legal Entities in the region: facilitates and ensures compliance of regulatory, statutory and U.S., financial requirements
  • Liaises with key stakeholders, such as corporate finance, treasury, tax, legal, compliance to ensure alignment and effectiveness of the finance operations
  • Introduces measures and enhances existing controls to ensure that activities are processed by the company’s policies, procedures and in line with audit and compliance requirements
  • Develops innovative initiatives to enhance internal efficiency and effectiveness, using technology as an enabler.

Management

  • Designs, establishes, and maintains an organizational structure to effectively accomplish the goals/objectives of the function
  • Creates the environment for talent development with a focus on succession planning for key roles across the region
  • Builds and leads a competent, agile team, geared to provide maximum benefit via provision of coaching, guidance and stretch challenges
  • Promotes a culture that reflects the organizations’ values, encourages high performance and rewards productivity
  • Actively engages in promoting diversity and inclusion across the function
  • Provides operational governance and educates employee base, as appropriate, on financial/risk management

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Degree in Accounting or Finance; preferably MBA and/or CMA or CPA certification
  • 15+ years of progressive finance experience, with at least 5 to 7 years in a managerial role leading a regional Finance function in Asia as part of a US multi-national company
  • Language: English
  • Proficient in US GAAP; SAP, BPC and SFDC experience a plus
  • Experience in scaling growing business is strongly preferred
