What is the opportunity?
The Senior Director, Advanced Insights, Data Innovation & Integration is accountable for the development, execution, support and oversight of data engineering capabilities for Customer Data Management & Analytics and is responsible for providing robust and effective data solutions with new and innovative ways to leverage data across PB & CB and RBC businesses for new opportunities.
The role defines, supports and informs business strategies through the breakdown, analysis and understanding of vast amounts of data, both internal and external to PB, CB and RBC. Provides engagement and leadership to data engineering teams so they can deliver business data solutions for PB & CB applications reports, and regulatory requirements. Interacts with senior leaders, technology, functional units, business intelligence, strategy and analytics to ensure that business value is being generated from the set of data services that the senior director is responsible for.
What will you do?
- Responsible for developing, coaching, and managing a team of high-performing individual contributors who are actively engaged, committed to RBC values, and accountable for delivering superior client experience, operational excellence, and team performance.
- Actively pursue innovation and ideation. Present and recommend opportunities to senior leadership and lead the build out of those opportunities.
- Manage external data vendors, assessing feasibility of potential new vendors, current vendors and sourcing potential vendors based on industry knowledge and existing/emerging technology in alignment with key support partners.
- Continuously look to industry products and trends to assess feasibility by determining potential use of new products/technology, in part or in whole, to support data and digital road map.
- Leverage and build relationships with external product owners to understand potential fit or synergies with RBC’s existing or potential future technologies.
- Manage a team of directors, senior managers, and managers by providing financial and people resource guidance.
Data Product Leadership for PB & CB
- Be the RBC expert/trusted advisor on a client centric view across Canadian Banking, functional groups, strategy, sales force.
- Work directly with senior executives across P&CB to bring focus to Data products and new innovative solutions to create new revenue and cost savings opportunities.
- Prioritize & scale data liberation to evolve our view of clients & prospects
- Design & drive adoption of prioritized data assets designed for reuse
- Unlock new value pools through advance insight generation
- Drive the digital insights and analytics capabilities and enable new capabilities to support MMM and VBB capabilities
Data Solutions
- Partner with business leaders to thoroughly understand PB & CB business objectives and data capability requirements in order to best support and recommend technology solutions, both current and future in partnership with key delivery partners
- Recognize and promote data sharing within PB & CB to optimize business needs
- Determine optimal solutions based on project requirements, identify new solutions not present or build on existing solutions already existing within RBC
- Accountable for the delivery of business value for the data products and services that the senior director oversees
- Accountable for Build and deploy processes and practices to ensure that data engineering meets and exceeds audit, RBC and regulatory requirements
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have - 10+ years proven experience:
- Data analytics, CRM analytics, marketing, digital analytics experience
- Strategic leadership experience
- Collaborating and advising senior executives while leading and executing strategic projects / programs
- Proven experience in defining, developing, and executing data and business strategies that align with business goals
- Hands-on experience with digital and data engineering, model development, analytics, data governance, and leveraging insights to drive strategic decisions
- Proven track record in building and leading diverse teams
- Experience managing multi-million-dollar portfolios, including funding/budget management
- Demonstrated ability to consult and to lead on complex change management concepts
- Experience and broad understanding of digital and technology delivery

- Ability to lead, motivate and inspire team, including promote a culture of high performance that celebrates inclusivity and innovation
- Familiarity with strategic technologies such as cloud computing, AI, machine learning, and data analytics.
- Think creatively to address unique or ambiguous situations and to find solutions to complex problems

- Comfortable with ambiguity, adept at navigating change, and have the ability to prioritize and multitask under pressure
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to evaluate and articulate complex information
- Strong problem solving, strategic mindset with a strong understanding of our revenue-generating businesses and financial literacy
