Senior DevOps Engineer/IT System Engineer (m/w/d)

What does a successful Senior DevOps Engineer/IT System Engineer (m/w/d) do at Fiserv?

In this role, you will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining the availability, stability, and performance of production systems and the deployed on-prem and Cloud applications. You will also participate in server and Cloud migration projects, implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines, and collaborate with international cross-functional teams.

Additionally, you will respond to and resolve incidents, perform root cause analysis, and maintain accurate documentation of system configurations and procedures. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in DevOps, system administration, and production support, and possess knowledge of LAMP and Windows Server/IIS environments. Strong problem-solving, communication, and analytical skills are required. Proficiency in English is essential, and German language skills are preferred.

What you will do:

  • Monitor and maintain the availability, stability, and performance of production systems and applications.
  • Perform application and database deployments following best practices and ITIL change management processes.
  • Plan and execute server migration projects, including the migration of applications from on-prem servers to Cloud platforms.
  • Plan, implement, and maintain Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines for application deployments.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, infrastructure teams, and operations personnel to ensure alignment with development and release schedules.
  • Respond to and resolve incidents and service requests in a timely manner. Perform root cause analysis for critical incidents and implement preventive measures to avoid similar incidents in the future.
  • Participate in on-call duties for off-hours and weekends to provide support for incidents and ensure 24/7 system availability.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations, processes, and procedures.

What you will need to have:

  • 5+ years of experience in DevOps, system administration, production support, or similar role. Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Proficiency with LAMP (Linux, Apache, mySQL, PHP) and Windows Server / IIS environments.
  • Deployments and configuration of replications for MSSQL, mySQL, and Oracle databases.
  • Proficiency in CI/CD pipeline automation tools such as Gitlab or Jenkins.
  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Powershell, Bash) to automate tasks and improve efficiency.
  • Knowledge of containerization technologies and tools, such as Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, ArgoCD, and Helm.
  • Strong understanding of common system architectures and security best practices.

What would be great to have:

  • Experience in working with following additional technologies and products: Setup, maintain, and monitor BMC Scheduler job chains, Container performance monitoring with Grafana, Splunk Logging, AWS, Containerization, Docker, Kubernetes, Harbor, ArgoCD, Helm Charts, Management and deployment of webserver certificates, Security Compliance Frameworks (OWASP, PCI DSS, …), Confluence, Jira
  • Experience working in an agile Scrum team, using the SAFe methodology.
  • Certification in relevant technologies (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer)
  • Optional: German language skills
