The DevOps Engineer is an intermediate-level position responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines, automating infrastructure, and fostering collaboration between development and operations teams. This role contributes to enhancing system reliability, scalability, and efficiency across the software development lifecycle.
Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and manage CI/CD pipelines to ensure rapid, reliable, and automated software delivery.
- Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles and tools.
- Implement and manage monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions to ensure the health and performance of applications and infrastructure.
- Collaborate with development and operations teams to streamline processes, troubleshoot issues, and optimize application performance and scalability.
- Conduct tasks related to system architecture, capacity planning, and disaster recovery to ensure robust and resilient systems.
- Utilize in-depth specialty knowledge of DevOps practices to analyze complex problems/issues, provide evaluation of operational processes, system performance, and industry standards, and make evaluative judgments.
- Recommend and implement security best practices throughout the CI/CD pipeline and infrastructure.
- Consult with development teams and other technology groups on operational issues, recommend advanced automation solutions, and support the deployment of customer-facing systems.
- Ensure essential procedures are followed and help define operating standards and processes for DevOps practices.
- Serve as advisor or coach to new or lower-level engineers on DevOps methodologies and tools.
- Has the ability to operate with a limited level of direct supervision.
- Can exercise independence of judgment and autonomy.
- Acts as SME to senior stakeholders and/or other team members regarding DevOps principles and tooling.
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
Recommended Qualifications:
- 8-10 years of relevant experience in IT, with a strong focus on DevOps practices, systems engineering, or software development.
- Experience in designing, implementing, and managing CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps).
- Proficient in infrastructure automation tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, Chef, Puppet).
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Strong scripting skills (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell).
- Working knowledge of monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, Splunk).
- Experience in managing and implementing successful projects.
- Working knowledge of Agile and DevOps methodologies.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage deadlines or unexpected changes in expectations or requirements.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree/University degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
