We have an exciting opportunity at nbn, as Senior Development Engineer reporting to DevsecOps Manager.

A bit about your role

The Senior Development Engineer will work across the full application lifecycle within DevSecOps team, delivering and supporting in‑house application changes using Scaled Agile and DevSecOps practices while ensuring strong operational outcomes and platform stability. The role collaborates closely with the DSO Manager and team to deliver solutions to nbn standards, support Agile ceremonies, plan and estimate work during PI Planning, and drive timely delivery of epics and stories.

It involves leading software activities, maintaining documentation and system baselines, designing and delivering complex technical solutions, managing and reducing technical debt, and training new team members. Acting as a technical lead, the role applies modern engineering methods to evolve applications reliably and efficiently while engaging with multiple stakeholders across the organisation.

A bit about you

The ideal candidate brings strong domain engineering experience, proven capability working in Agile teams, and deep technical skills in developing and deploying APIs and microservices using Java 11+, Spring Boot, and modern OOP principles. They have solid knowledge of REST design, cloud technologies—preferably AWS—and hands‑on experience with services such as EKS, API Gateway, Lambda, Elasticsearch, DynamoDB, and messaging platforms like Kafka, SQS or JMS/AMQ.

They are well‑versed in secure API practices, documentation standards, clean architecture, and rigorous validation, with the ability to collaborate effectively and clearly communicate complex technical concepts to senior management. The role requires a strong communicator with a growth mindset who can guide newer team members and contribute to a high‑performing engineering culture.

The candidate will be familiar with the use of GitHub Copilot, AI assistants and Agentic Engineering to increase their personal productivity and the productivity of their colleagues. The use of AI in Software development is moving fast, and the candidate will demonstrate they are on-top of the latest trends and foundation models and will be able to share strong examples and metrics of AI benefits in Software Development.
