Job Description:

Parsons is looking for a talented Senior Design Manager to join our team! In this role you will lead the design management and technical coordination for a major development program in Qatar, overseeing multidisciplinary engineering teams and ensuring design delivery meets project requirements, regulatory standards, and construction readiness.

As Senior Design Manager, you will provide technical leadership across all design disciplines and work closely with program leadership, consultants, contractors, and authorities to ensure coordinated and compliant design solutions across the full project lifecycle.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Lead and manage multidisciplinary design teams including civil, structural, MEP, architectural, fire, AV/ICT, and landscape disciplines.

  • Oversee design development across all phases including concept, schematic, detailed design, IFC validation, and technical submittals.

  • Establish and manage design coordination processes, review protocols, and technical governance frameworks.

  • Lead design reviews and ensure technical compliance with project requirements, regulatory standards, and applicable codes.

  • Coordinate closely with construction and project management teams to ensure design integration with construction sequencing and delivery strategies.

  • Manage design interfaces between disciplines, consultants, contractors, and project packages.

  • Identify and resolve design conflicts, technical issues, and interface challenges across multidisciplinary teams.

  • Lead value engineering workshops, technical coordination meetings, and design optimization reviews.

  • Review and approve technical submissions, shop drawings, and material submittals.

  • Support mock-up inspections, Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), and technical approvals.

  • Oversee BIM and digital design coordination to ensure effective data integration and clash detection.

  • Interface with authorities, third-party reviewers, and regulatory bodies to obtain design approvals.

  • Assess technical risks, system compatibility, and cost implications during design and early construction phases.

  • Support project leadership in maintaining alignment between design deliverables, construction readiness, and program milestones.

What Required Skills/Qualifications You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Structural, MEP, or Architectural Engineering from an accredited university; Master’s degree preferred.

  • Chartered Engineer or equivalent accreditation

  • 18–20 years of experience in engineering and design management on large-scale multidisciplinary developments.

  • Minimum 8 years in a senior design leadership role within a PMC/PMCM environment or client-side technical team.

  • Certifications such as PMP®, PRINCE2®, or equivalent project leadership credentials.

  • Sustainability certifications such as LEED AP or GSAS-CGP.

  • Proven experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams (civil, structural, architectural, MEP, and related disciplines) on complex development programs.

  • Experience with race tracks, motorsports facilities, hospitality, retail, high-end F&B, leisure, and entertainment zone developments is desirable.

  • Strong experience overseeing design reviews, IFC validation, technical submissions, and construction compliance.

  • Demonstrated capability in design coordination and interface management across consultants, contractors, and project packages.

  • Experience delivering large-scale GCC developments, particularly complex mixed-use or infrastructure-integrated programs.

  • Strong understanding of building systems coordination, construction methodologies, staging, and sequencing impacts.

  • Deep knowledge of statutory and regulatory design requirements in the GCC region.

  • Strong communicator capable of translating complex technical matters into clear direction for senior stakeholders and project teams.

  • Experience leading value engineering initiatives, technical workshops, and multidisciplinary coordination reviews.

What Desired Skills You'll Bring:

  • Professional certification such as Chartered Engineer (CEng) or equivalent professional licensing.

  • Strong experience working within BIM-enabled design environments and digital engineering coordination platforms.
