Shift: Hybrid - 3 days on location

Salary:  $113,500 - $170,300, plus 8% annual bonus

The Data Science organization at NiSource is the recently established advanced analytics arm of the company. We are building a talented team that is leveraging best-in-class tools and techniques to solve our company's highest value analytics use cases. The Sr. Data Scientist will report up through the Enterprise Data and Analytics Organization and function as a technical consultant in data science organization in order to:

  • Serve as an expert in translating complex data into key strategy insights and valuable actions

  • Discover insights from data and present them to other data scientists, business stakeholders, and leaders at various levels

  • Perform data exploration and data mining

  • Build impactful modeling solutions with AI and Machine Learning techniques

Your additional responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Develops ML, AI and statistical models that create value for the organization

  • Supports and may lead recommendations from ideation to delivery of solution

  • Coaches, reviews and delegates work to professionals with less experience

  • Able to work independently, with guidance in highly technical situations

  • Communicate effectively to stakeholders with minimal oversight

  • Collaborates with Business Clients, establish professional relationships in order to understand business needs

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience

  • 4+ years of experience as a data scientist, data analyst, or similar role  

  • 4+ years of experience coding in statistical and database languages (SQL, Python, R, Spark, etc)  

  • 4+ years of experience using machine learning such as NLP, image recognition, boosted trees, or related duties 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree or advanced degree in statistics, data science, physics, mathematics, engineering, computer science, or comparable discipline
