The Opportunity

The Senior Data Scientist position works out of our Austin, TX location in the Cardiac Rhythm Management Division.

As a global leader in Cardiac Rhythm Technologies, we focus on innovative technologies that can improve the way doctors treat heart arrhythmias or irregular heartbeats.

What You'll Work On

Abbott currently has an opportunity for a Sr. Data Analyst.   The Sr. Data Analyst will support and lead various analytical projects to deliver commercial solutions for Cardiac Rhythm Management organization. The candidate will be responsible for working on complex problems in the field of life-saving implantable medical devices. The candidate will use data analytics and data science methods to provide solutions to a wide range of challenging commercial projects.  As a key leader on the team, the candidate will develop solutions to curate and analyze large quantities of medical data.  The candidate will work on projects that provide solutions to internal and external stakeholders.  The candidate will present solutions and insights in concise and effective manner to technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Develop, plan, coordinate and direct data analytics and visualization projects (of medium to advanced complexity) that are of major scope and importance. Manage multiple, often concurrent projects and meet expectations.
  • Understand medical device business needs and articulate these needs to other stakeholders. Assure that data science projects effectively address businesses’ long and short-term business goals.
  • Communicate complex analytical results to internal and external audiences, including senior management. Prepare and present written and oral reports. Adjust presentation style and content to suit the audience.
  • Interact well with diverse groups and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external collaborators. Listen to and understand others’ points of view and articulate tactfully and respectfully one’s own and others’ perspectives orally, in writing, and in presentations.
  • Interface with senior management on significant matters, often requiring the coordination of activity across organizational units.

Education and experience you’ll bring

  • 5+ Years hands-on experience in Data Analytics or Data Science role
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Data Analytics, Data Science, Statistics or related STEM field
  • Create complex dashboards and visualizations of commercial data using Power BI to identify trends and provide key business insights to leaders across different teams
  • Advanced Excel and analytical skills required. Use of Excel for data manipulation and complex custom reports
  • Proficiency in SQL, Python, or other common analytics and reporting tools (e.g., Pandas, NumPy, visualization libraries).
  • Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment.  
  • Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects.  Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in quantitative discipline, such as computer science, engineering, data science, bioinformatics, statistics, mathematics, machine learning or related field.
  • Proficient in data warehousing, data modeling, ETL and SQL
  • In-depth knowledge of contemporary machine learning, pattern recognition and datamining techniques.
  • Apply scientific knowledge on data modeling, data analytics, predictive algorithms, prescriptive algorithms and other data science principles to create concepts, develop prototypes, and generate insights from commercial data
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, including problem-solving, conflict resolution, project planning, and execution. Excellent interpersonal skills and documented success in a team working environment.
  • Experience with big-data architecture, operating systems, and tools for big-data analytics
  • Proven success in the ability to work in cross-functional teams to meet clearly defined objectives that benefit the Company and the customer. 

The base pay for this position is

$78,000.00 – $156,000.00

In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
