The purpose of this role is to design, develop and maintain data solutions. They will work closely with other teams to ensure that data is captured, stored, and processed in a way that is both efficient and scalable. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of database design and management, as well as experience working with data warehouses, ETL processes, and data modeling. They will also be proficient in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala, and have experience working with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, or Kafka. The Data Engineer will play a critical role in helping the organization leverage data to make informed business decisions, and will work with stakeholders across the organization to ensure that data is accessible, reliable, and accurate..

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop the company's data solutions, including data warehouses, data pipelines, and ETL processes, to support the organization's data needs.
  • Develop and maintain data models, schemas, and dictionaries to ensure that data is organized and easily accessible.
  • Collaborate with other teams to identify and document data requirements, and work to ensure that data is captured, stored, and processed in a way that meets those requirements.
  • Build and maintain data pipelines to ensure that data is ingested, transformed, and loaded into the appropriate systems and databases.
  • Develop and maintain data quality checks and validations to ensure that data is accurate and reliable.
  • Optimize data storage and processing to ensure that the organization's data needs are met in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Monitor data usage and performance, and proactively identify and resolve issues related to data quality, availability, or performance.
  • Work with stakeholders across the organization to understand their data needs and develop solutions that meet those needs.
  • Keep up-to-date with industry trends and best practices related to data engineering, and proactively identify opportunities to improve the organization's data infrastructure and processes.

Work Experience:

Necessary Work Experience includes:

  • Some relevant work experience.

Preferred Work Experience includes:

  • Experience in modelling systems.
  • Experience in statistical analysis.
  • Experience in probabilistic analysis.

Qualifications:

Necessary Qualifications include:

  • Tertiary Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Travel Frequency: Infrequent (approximately 1-4 trips annually)

Incumbent must be able to lift basic office equipment up to 20 lbs.
