Job Expectations

Build your career and Australia’s future.

Not many people can say they are working on building Australia’s future. With us you’ll be doing just that, leaving a legacy for all Australians. Plus, there’s equal employment, great training, and true flexible working arrangements

We have an exciting opportunity at nbn for a Senior Data Engineer. This role will report to the Manager DevSecOps – Enterprise Knowledge Graph.

A bit about your role

As a Senior Data Engineer at nbn, you will play a vital role in shaping how data is designed, modelled, and delivered across the organisation. Working within a collaborative and agile environment, you’ll be responsible for the end-to-end development of data solutions that support our Cloud Enterprise Data Warehouse and Enterprise Knowledge Graph. Your work will span from technical business analysis and solution design to implementation and deployment, all while ensuring alignment with our enterprise information model and data strategy.

You’ll bring clarity to complex data challenges by designing scalable ELT processes, optimising data models, and contributing to the evolution of our data frameworks. You’ll also engage with a broad range of stakeholders—from architects and delivery managers to business analysts and offshore teams—ensuring your solutions are not only technically sound but also deeply connected to business needs. This role is an opportunity to influence how data is used as a strategic asset at nbn, supporting smarter decisions and better outcomes for communities across Australia.

A bit about you

You are a thoughtful and experienced data professional who thrives in a collaborative, purpose-driven environment. With over a decade in ICT and a strong foundation in the telecommunications domain, you bring both technical depth and a strategic mindset to your work. You’re confident working with cloud-based technologies, particularly within the AWS ecosystem, and have a passion for building robust, secure, and efficient data solutions.

Your approach is grounded in curiosity and care—you take the time to understand business needs, reverse engineer complex pipelines, and design models that are both elegant and effective. You’re a natural communicator who can translate technical concepts for diverse audiences and a team player who values shared success. If you’re looking to make a meaningful impact through data, while growing alongside a supportive and forward-thinking team, we’d love to hear from you.
