How This Role Differs
You are the builder and implementer, not just the designer
You will work directly under Principal Engineers to execute architecture vision
You will own end-to-end pipelines and services in production
You will focus on real-time integration, data quality, and reliability across healthcare data flows
Build Scalable Healthcare Data Pipelines
Develop and maintain batch and streaming data pipelines across:
Claims (837/835), Eligibility (834)
Clinical data from EMRs (Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth)
Pharmacy (PBM), labs, ADT feeds, and HIE data
Build high-throughput ingestion frameworks using modern distributed systems
Ensure data accuracy, completeness, and timeliness across all feeds
Implement Interoperability Solutions
Build and support integrations using:
FHIR R4 APIs, HL7v2 interfaces, CCDA documents
Event-driven data exchange patterns (Kafka, streaming services)
Support bidirectional data exchange between payer systems and provider EMRs
Work on real-world interoperability challenges (mapping, transformation, normalization)
Enable Point-of-Care Data Delivery
Support delivery of insights into EMRs including:
Care gaps (HEDIS)
Risk adjustment signals (HCC opportunities)
Utilization alerts (ADT-driven notifications)
Build APIs and services that surface data within clinical workflows
Data Quality, Reliability & Observability
Implement monitoring for:
Data freshness, completeness, and accuracy
Pipeline failures and latency issues
Build reusable data validation frameworks across ingestion pipelines
Participate in root cause analysis and production support
Cloud-Native Engineering
Build and deploy solutions on cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
Use modern data tools such as:
Spark, Kafka, Databricks, Airflow
Contribute to scalable, secure, and HIPAA-compliant architectures
Collaboration in COE Model
Work closely with Principal Data Engineers and Architects
Translate architectural designs into production-ready systems
Partner with QA, DevOps, and analytics teams to operationalize data products
Required Qualifications
5–10 years of experience in data engineering or backend data systems
Strong experience in healthcare data environments (payer or provider)
Hands-on experience with:
Data pipelines (batch + streaming)
SQL + Python/Scala/Java
Experience working with:
Claims, clinical, pharmacy, or EMR data
Familiarity with:
HL7, FHIR, CCDA, ADT feeds (preferred but not mandatory deep expertise)
Additional Information
Location/Work Style: Remote in Frisco/Dallas, TX area

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting.
