This is a highly hands-on engineering role focused on building and operating production-grade data systems that support claims, clinical, pharmacy, and provider data at scale.

How This Role Differs

  • You are the builder and implementer, not just the designer

  • You will work directly under Principal Engineers to execute architecture vision

  • You will own end-to-end pipelines and services in production

  • You will focus on real-time integration, data quality, and reliability across healthcare data flows

    • FHIR R4 APIs, HL7v2 interfaces, CCDA documents

    • Event-driven data exchange patterns (Kafka, streaming services)

  • Support bidirectional data exchange between payer systems and provider EMRs

  • Work on real-world interoperability challenges (mapping, transformation, normalization)

Enable Point-of-Care Data Delivery

  • Support delivery of insights into EMRs including:

    • Care gaps (HEDIS)

    • Risk adjustment signals (HCC opportunities)

    • Utilization alerts (ADT-driven notifications)

  • Build APIs and services that surface data within clinical workflows

Data Quality, Reliability & Observability

  • Implement monitoring for:

    • Data freshness, completeness, and accuracy

    • Pipeline failures and latency issues

  • Build reusable data validation frameworks across ingestion pipelines

  • Participate in root cause analysis and production support

Cloud-Native Engineering

  • Build and deploy solutions on cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)

  • Use modern data tools such as:

    • Spark, Kafka, Databricks, Airflow

  • Contribute to scalable, secure, and HIPAA-compliant architectures

Collaboration in COE Model

  • Work closely with Principal Data Engineers and Architects

  • Translate architectural designs into production-ready systems

  • Partner with QA, DevOps, and analytics teams to operationalize data products
